I accidentally broke her tail feathers off! :-(

Luckily she's a chick, she'll molt soon and grow new feathers.

My mom did that once but with my bird's HEAD. We have a guillotine-like door (slides up and down) and one day, Kung Pao tried to run out before my mom closed the door, but her head got stuck. I shoved my mom aside and opened the door, poor KP collapsed to the floor and didn't move. After performing chicken CPR she was fine, but boy that was terrible. We're since much more cautious with the door.

Thanks for letting me know her breed - and how neat to also find out what it means!

It's funny I was looking in my mcmurray catalog trying to figure out what she might be and I saw both the Crevecoeurs and Houdans which she resembled. Since I don't know the "top hat" breeds that well I wasn't sure at all. Nice to know they're as sweet as the books say!

She is sweet! Her and my EE's are the sweetest ones, my toddler can pick them up and tote them around without any problems. I read the Crevocoeurs (I can never spell it right) were terribly layers. This chick is so tiny, I can't imagine her laying anything other than maybe a ping pong ball.

We also used to have a Houdan who was my toddler's very favorite pet, and the feeling was mutual, the Houdan loved her too. As soon as she went outside Poudan (she named it lol) would come running into her arms or she would follow my daughter around the yard. I want more Houdans badly!
