You can feed mealworms and other veggies as soon as they hatch. Just chop them up into smaller pieces. They really like it if you put it in their water. I wouldn't introduce grit until a few weeks old. My new do fine without any at all

    Benninger Hatchery's silkies

That's a photo of what looks like a purebred Silkie. Silkies can have pink skin and still be purebred. They just aren't seen as sop. The comb could also be red because he's a rooster

    Benninger Hatchery's silkies

It wouldn't be a purebred silkie, but you could definitely still get a cute fluffy chicken. It will most likely still have silkie feathers

I'm new to partridge. I finally got a buff and mottled breeding pen. I have one darker partridge hen, but she seems to not be that great of quality lol. Hopefully we will both figure em out!

Chicken of the day! Also, how do you keep posting in the same thread?(Solved!)

Today's chicken of the day is Stewart! I just bought him a few days ago. I got him from a lady that bought him at Forever Silkies. He's super sweet, and I can't wait to buy a buff hen to breed with him! He doesn't look great right now because he's going through a molt... It also doesn't help...

What is this in the egg with the yolk

By the sounds of it, you're doing everything right. It could just be because of the new feed.

What is this in the egg with the yolk

They molt every year. Usually between spring-fall

What is this in the egg with the yolk

How old is your hen? New egg layers and older hens usually have these. Is it possible she may be going through a molt? Have you changed your hens diet at all?

    Benninger Hatchery: silkie+Serama hatch along!

Hi again!! It's been quite a while since I posted. So I figured I would give an update on the silkie chicks. They are all so fluffy and are very friendly. I just recently moved them into the big coop with the adult Silkies and call ducks.
