I have chickens from 21 weeks to 18 weeks olds and they all have dry faces. See pictures. I thought it'll go away after they are done molting but not sure if it's getting better. Does heat cause this? Or is this just normal chicken face?
My 20 weeks old hen is having a raspy voice. I noticed it today. Could she still be possibly going through voice change?
She just got through molting. She hasn't laid any eggs yet.
She's been panting but it's been really hot. I don't see anything different about her. Any signs I should look...
Yeah it's not like bad chemical. I flies could carry bacteria and stuff but I think it's a grasshopper head actually. I don't even know how I spot that tiny lol
Yeah, searched bug head images. I think it's grasshopper. I have it upside down. I don't think grasshopper carry any bacteria or viruses so I think I'm ok!
I found a fly head in S&P layer feed (photo attached) earlier today. It freaked me out. I emailed them about it because full grown flies aren't in their ingredient list! They replied that it's a flax meal pellet. Does it look like pellet to anyone? Why is there a set of eyes in a pellet?? Based...
I just found what it seems like a fly head in S&P feed!
I feed larvae to my chickens but it's creepy me out that they've been eating grounded whole flies! It wasn't in the ingredient list!
Are these grown in sanitary environment? Why it isn't included in the ingredient list? Was this accident...
Yes, it is a lot to keep track of and I do my best. From what I read garlic and onions have organosulfur and this type of sulfur is not good for birds if consumed too much. I'm not an expert by any means. Like you said proper amounts should be beneficial. I was just saying I wouldn't give them...
It's so true! There's always strong arguments for both sides. I didn't get answer for a few days and I was worried so I bought both of Roosty's and Fenbendazole. I didn't see anymore of weird bugs in their poop box and they are behaving normal so I didn't use the Fenbendazole.
FYI, don't buy...
Thanks. Is Safe-guard aquasol dewormer for chicken okay? The ingredient says it's fenbendazole. The problem I have is that I have only 6 chickens and their weights don't add up to the minimum dosage weight so I need to wait until they mature. Right?
Do you give your chicken acv water? If you...
I found tiny (about half inch), fast moving black worm in the sand box today. I searched the forums and someone suggested millipede but I don't think it was that one. It didn't walk. It moved like a snake. It did have sections like millipede but I don't think it had legs and it had pointy tail...
I'm still debating if I should deworm my chickens. Do you deworm your flock regularly just to be sure?
I have 6 young pullets and they have about half acres to roam free, pretty much everyday.
I don't want to stress their system unnecessarily but I also want them protected. They eat anything...
This is very helpful thread! I'm having the same issue with one of my 11 weeks old pullet that is currently on the top of pecking order. My sweet girl is trying to dominate me now.
I used to love gardening with her. When I find grubs, I'd give it to her. The other I did the same thing but now...
I hope I'm overreacting... One of my pullets have these red scabs on her leg. She also lost some weight. She is molting right now so that might be why but could it be mites attacking her? She's been resting more, but otherwise normal. I didn't see this in others. Should I be worried?
