he acts fine except for runny nose and shakes head alot and his comb is dull not nice and red, poop look fine! any suggestion! none of the others seem affected? hes about 10-11mths old Leghorn
everyone experiences this.. days are shorter.. they need 14-16hrs. of daylight for and egg! especially white egg layers like leghorns.. use a 60watt bulb on a cheap walmart xmas tree timer.. to turn it on at 2-3a and go off hour after sunup!.. if their molting LOL.. 60days to wait.. but winter...

use Diatamaceous Earth, DE for short ..pick some up at home Depot in the pool section ..its fossils ground into flour, (silica realy) you can spread in the laying boxes , scatter in the pen ,even mix in the feed as it will worm them naturaly without having to burn the eggs for 10 days.. this...
Black Copper Maran for sure!! French strain is the one you want! not the english!, French has some feathers on the legs, very dark and red!, im in the process of obtaining some!... i think their awesome!,
in the past i have seen that if you leave eggs in the nest too long this can happen!.. we have gone out say at noon! got the eggs! if i waited till 3or 4p would have bad results!!.. if you know the times their laying get them up sooner!
its been my experience with BLack Copper Marans, you would want the one with the French characteristics.. feathers on the legs!! otherwise its the English version, not preferred!, and the eggs should be dark and red!, im actually wanting some BCM's now!
