My non bearded OE looks just like this one. So pretty! I actually get her mixed up with my brown leghorn if I can’t see their head. They have almost the same feathers around their neck and body.
Ok good to know! I was trying to zoom in on your OE’s to see their wattles. Mama OE has some but no beard so that makes sense. I have one that looks just like her but she’s not getting red quite yet. I bet she’ll get little wattles like yours.
20.5 weeks and look at her! Definitely pullet and I love her glorious beard so much. Getting pretty red but zero wattles! Does that seem normal? My other girls’ wattles got big with the red coming in.
They are on Kalmbach 20% protein pellets. The treats they get sometimes are just black soldier fly larvae. Run is about 125sqft and the coup I’d have to measure to get the exact size. They only go in the coup to sleep or get the the laying boxes though and they have 4 different 2x4 perches that...
They all look like the first pic. The second pic you can see the striped one too. The two dust bathing look just like these two. You can see my black star in the back of the second pic looks perfect. The other 4 non layers look like her. The newest layer doesn’t look as bad as the 4 older layers...
She’s gorgeous! Side note, your photos came at the perfect time! I have 2 Olive Eggers and 2 Easter Eggers who’s combs are getting pinker but have ZERO wattles and I was getting confused. They look similar to yours but different colors. Good to see she doesn’t have wattles but is laying 😍
I have something going on that’s puzzling me. I have 10 chickens. 4 that are April/May hatch date and have been laying. In the summer they had lice or mites and I treated them with permethrin and cleaned the coup really well and they seemed to be better. About a month later, the 4 layers...
Little update on my chicks. Gave the two away. We had to put one of ours down so I only have one now. She’s a sweetheart though! I just love her so much. She laid her first egg at 22.5 weeks. It’s more of a cream color than white. Is that normal? I’m happy about it either way!
Ok they are fully on 20% protein layer feed, I’ve given them some fish and I’m letting them out to run the yard a little longer now just in case they’re getting bored. I also refreshed their dirt bath really good. If it’s a protein thing, how long does it usually take for them to stop picking? A...
Well out of the 5 in there 4 are laying and the 5th is only 18 weeks but comb and wattles just now starting to get big and red and rounded Saddle feathers so I’m pretty certain she’s a pullet lol. Also, she’s a brown leg horn and has female coloring. No roosters in the whole flock. If feather...
