Bonding Trouble with 3-Week-Old Ducks — Advice Needed

I hatched my 1.5w old ducklings and handle them daily and they still bolt from me when I get them from the brooder. Once they’re out with me they’re usually pretty calm especially once they get their zoomies out. Sometimes they just sit on my feet lol

    Brooder help

Hi! I have 2 buff and 2 call ducklings (hatched July 18/19). The buff ducks are quickly outgrowing their brooder, and I’m finding it hard to navigate brooder setup with the size differences. I am in the process of building their outdoor coop (8x16 covered Predator-proofed open air run with small...

The baby with the guts hanging out passed overnight. Really happy it’s no longer suffering. The other 4 ducklings seem very healthy and happy!

My other breach buff duck hatched last night with a bloody bill and an unabsorbed yolk sack. Odds of survival? Anything I can do?

I don’t. Is it a problem if my hatched ducks bonk around the other eggs that are not out yet?

The duff egg with the bruise that I assisted hatched much earlier than I anticipated. Shortly after I assisted the second time when there were still a decent amount of veins that needed to recede. Duckling looks fine, teeny lil bellybutton but nothing drastic. I’m concerned about what’s left in...

I opened the call eggs (previous post) but haven’t touched the buff eggs. I’m getting a little anxious about the one with the bruise that popped on the wrong end— 48h since internal pip, 24 since external pip, no progress in about 14 hours. Still breathing but no peeping.

Okay I opened up the two cal eggs, added Vaseline, and put them back in the incubator. Fingers crossed they survive the night!

Ok. I poked the air holes at 10 last night so I’ll give them 4 more hours before I attempt to help. Ugh. Not excited about that

Buff egg is still chipping away 👍🏼 The call eggs haven’t changed. One isn’t moving much at all, the other is but no progress. Is this a big enough air hole? It’s literally the size of a pin prick. I was too scared to do too much

The external pip didn’t actually go through the membrane. Is that okay? Should I do anything to help or just wait it out?

Sounds good. I’m definitely in no rush to assist these kiddos.

Good morning! The Buff egg with the bruise from yesterday externally pipped through its bruise. Not sure if I should worry. It has a much larger air cell than the others, which is so confusing since they’re all in the same incubator.

The calls have internally pipped and I added a safety hole. THINGS ARE HAPPENING!! WISH US LUCK!
