Cockrell Curious Questions ( say that 5 times fast)

thanks for the info.. makes it easier than having to build 3+ separate runs.. I want to try and selectively breed.. so I need to make a "honeymooners" run/laying box so I know what eggs are what. A separate bachelor pad would be perfect if it works out. I suggested eating the extra...

Cockrell Curious Questions ( say that 5 times fast)

Got some new chicks from the farm store this year. Seem to have some young roos in the mix. We are considering hatching some of our own eggs and maybe breeding some production crosses. My question is, if you are going to keep roosters for breeding but dont want them out in the general...

    EMERGENCY! Survived Beating... Head Trauma

not sure where I read.. and cannot vouch for the suggestion... but it does sound like it has merit. The author had said that with an aggressive roo, to try and swat or kick at it, is just reinforcing the instinct to fight. The author suggested instead to catch the roo and carry them tucked...

    2 dead hens

2 dead hens, both production crosses that were obtained as adults, age unknown, last summer from a chicken "trader" who would get large numbers from Amish farms. These were our 'practice" chickens who have become pets. It has been extremely wet here and their run had become "soupy" to the point...
