Thank you. I was afraid he had some kind of mite as I really try to do everything I can for them not to have them. He has been a little 'disabled' lately. He started slumping over about 10 months ago....in other words he does not stand up straight anymore. I think he may have hurt his back...
Here is a pic of my rooster that has lost his feathers on his quill. Quill still there but feather gone. He is 3 1/2 years old, I cannot do anymore then I am doing for mites etc.
So you seen to be smart about this...how about my rooster has lost his fluffy tail feathers but not his tail quills. The quills are bare of the feathers. Any ideas?????
My rooster has lost all of the feathers but not the quill on his tail feathers and back. All he has back there is quills but no feather. I treat the coop with orange guard and domo. earth everytime I clean. I don't know what the deal is.
All of my hens were laying soft eggs. I mixed the oyster shells in with their food. I tried putting it on the ground and it did not work. And I have my customers save me the egg shells. I from time to time crush them and scatter them on the ground. I have not had a soft egg for months but it...
I am going to try to put a vitamin supp. in their water and see if it helps. He has to make me some babies this spring!!! I'll post a pic later. But his healthy pic is on my page.
'My big man is doing the same thing. He eats fine, poops, but he use to come racing out of the hen house first one in the morning chasing all of the girls around. Now he is not the first out and he only chases a little after awhile. He is eating fine but slouching. I don't understand it.
Swollen Barred Rock died. She got so sick I had to take her from the hen house because the others started picking on her and attacking her. I tried the orange guard and still use it when ever I clean the coop every 2 weeks. Also the Domi. Earth stuff....I put it on the litter in the coop and in...
He is handsome. My rooster has tried to attack me twice in 2 years. He has never hurt me though. He flies up at my thigh. I yell at him but am not mean to him. I don't want to make him meaner. I guess I am lucky. But he does protect the hens, although he is 'hen pecked'. If I throw down a treat...
Also if they had a parasite maybe if would explain the soft eggs. I have 5 hens and only get about one egg a day now. I do see signs of soft eggs in the coop. They seem to poop them out when they are on the roost at night. Crazy chickens!!!! They are very intertaining!!
The orange guard looks great. But try to find it in a neighborhood store. To order it on line is very expensive. The shipping is more than the product. I will try and let you know how it goes.
My chickens have a large yard that is fenced in on the sides and top since I have lots of hawks. Of coarse all of the vegetation is dead in the yard where they play, but....i will take a shovel and dig holes for them or a hoe and dig a trench. They enjoy investigating the area. Also you can move...
My Plymouth Barred looks swollen in her thigh area and maybe her butt area. She acts find but I have noticed it for awhile. I have had problems with my hens laying soft eggs and no eggs lately. Any ideas? She is 2 years old. I'll post a pic later.
Yes this sounds familiar. I have 5 hens that were giving me about 2-3 eggs a day until the last several months. Now I might get 1 every other day. They have a beautiful large fenced in area with a nice coop and they have a roof on the yard and I still lock them up at night. I have changed their...
