    I went from a 250 watt red heat lamp bulb to a 25 watt regular red light bulb and put it down closer to the quail, and quit losing quail at that point. Thanks for the suggestions that the Heat might be to high. Hopefully this will save the last seven quail.

    Today when i was out at the chicken coop with 23 hens and 3 rooster Maran chickens that are two months old, and one older hen that is blind, i found an egg laying on the floor!!! First egg around here since ???? Most likely the old blind hen layed this egg ?? Right ? I guess i was thinking...

    I have 20 hens of laying age and have been getting ONE egg, ON A GOOD DAY, since Thanksgiving ?? (free range, full feed, no light) Feathers all over the place, so i have been blaming it on the hens molting. But i do not have much experience with chickens so maybe something else is going on??
