I looked up Marek's symptoms but I don't think that is it. They aren't showing any other symptoms. No leisions or any of the other symptoms. I also don't notice any swelling in the chickens legs or feet. It just starts with limping that progressively gets worse and then they die...eating and...
What is worrying me the most is that they die and as soon as I lose one I notice another doing the same thing (with the exception of my grown hen hers is something entirely different but started out seemingly the same). It seems the less they use (like when I separate them) the worse it gets...
Pre stroy: I have about 30 chickens all various ages and breeds. They free range daily. They are also in the same field as a couple of goats and sheep.
I have been noticing some of my young chickens begin limping and then eventually die. I thought at 1st it was due to the roosters being...
I have hatched Black copper marans and wheaton maran (2 different breeders) and both hatched a day or more after the light brown eggs...thought it was just me!! lol I have also noticed a much lower hatch rate compared to other eggs from same breeders. No idea!
It doesn't look like a prolapse...I don't think chicks can get that (as they are not laying eggs)...but I'm not 100% sure of that...and also the wound is more on the belly than the vent.
I posted it on the hatched section. I inially thought the same thing but I don't see anything hanging or anything weird just a dried bloody area. And would the yolk absorb under the wing?
I have a chick that was hatched by a broody hen (an egg from one of my chickens). I found the chicken still sitting on her nest ( I quickly checked under her and did not see any others hatching) and 1 dry chick running around her. I decided to take the chick since it was the lone one for who...
The Black copper maran are yellow and black with fuzzy on the feet and legs but his legs are the wrong color...I would guess he is mixed with something...You would have also noticed a significant difference in the eggs...maran eggs are DARK brown.

I've not had any luck with the salmons...same situation...just sluggish...gets worse and worse until it dies. I had 2 from a hatchery and 3 from a local breeder and only1 has made it...the breeder one. They seem to be very sweet tempered and docile...they must not handle stress well
I have a little guy that seems like he has been hatching forever...at least 12 hrs...I keep checking on him and he doesn't seem to be making much progress...i'm so nervous he is going to "drowned" or get "shrink wrapped"...when can i come in and help with shell?
