Has anyone converted a chicken eglu for ducks

Hey guys. You are my experts. I've been a chicken owner for five years. We have a small, family pet, flock and they live in a Eglu Cube. We previously had three Eglu Go houses and I kept one. Now my kids are begging for a pair of ducks for pets. The Eglu house is nice for them to sleep and I...

Max. number of hens you have fit in eagle cube?

Hi, I've owned three Eglu Go coops for five plus years now. I recently ordered a Cube. I know six, full size hens, will fit comfortably in the cube. I wouldn't push it further than that. My girls are in excellent health and look fantastic. That being said, with three Eglu Go houses all six of my...

    Easter Egger Roo?

Thank you guys! I might be able to keep one rooster but not two. I have four girls presently and this will make seven. Perfect for one rooster as long as my neighbors don't complain. We can have a max of twelve in my area and roosters are up to the community. So far nobody has cared in three...

    Easter Egger Roo?

I purchased three Easter Eggers and they are all various shades. One is a grey, one is browns and one is this black and white. Only one has produced a small red comb. Pretty sure it's a roo. Could I be wrong? They are 5 weeks.

My chickens have barely laid in 8 months....

I did a check and I think I got it right. It seems to be three fingers. I tried it on two girls. They have been locked in their run for two days but no eggs. Also, no signs of egg eating. Nothing can get into their run so I know it's not that. Now it may be the winter temps so do you think it...

My chickens have barely laid in 8 months....

Anyone else have any ideas? A neighbor of mine has chickens in a pen with one nest box, way scruffier digs than my girls, and hers are laying like crazy. Can you over spoil a chicken? LOL

My chickens have barely laid in 8 months....

I just spent a long while in our backyard (we don't have acreage) and I can't find any hidden nests. I searched high and low and left no stone unturned. I locked up the little beasts in their walk in run after cleaning everything. The run is completely predator proof. I really doubt having...

My chickens have barely laid in 8 months....

I'm at a loss as to what could possibly be keeping my girls from laying. Yes, they went through a molt and it seems that they have constantly been growing new feathers over nearly 8 months. They are alert, healthy looking, good weights. There are no signs of parasites. They have well ventilated...

Really trying to improve my chickens feed.....

Thank you for all the replies. I did read them all and I'm sourcing some of the things mentioned. One of the bummers of living in a rural mountain town is the accessibility to some things but I'm looking at shipping.

How do you heat your coops

We use a shower curtain on the run (might have been my post way back, LOL) it works well and is way less expensive than heavy tarps. We also have tried warm water bottles when temps are very low but the girls didn't like it. They don't seem to mind the cold nearly as much as the heat.

Really trying to improve my chickens feed.....

Sorry, currently we are feeding Ace High Feeds. I left that out.

Really trying to improve my chickens feed.....

Now that I have some time to think about my girls more I really want to change their feed. I've used Purina Layer Feed in the past but have been using this because it's sold locally at our only feed store. However, I just don't think, even with supplementing some regular fruit and veggies, that...

Completely frustrated by lack of eggs

Thanks! I'll try this out. I go out to collect eggs many times a day but haven't been finding anything. It's so frustrating with such a small flock and when we've spoiled the heck out of these chickens. She's a pretty but she'll be pretty tasty if she doesn't stop post haste!
