I've had my current chickens for 3 years now but unfortunately one of my hens died last week. I am now left with just 2 chickens and literally just built a brand new coup for my hens the other week (typical!) I'm now looking to add 2 new chickens to my old ones...

in fact almost a year since i last hatched my white sussex chickens!.
now im looking to hatch either some sussex rhodies or plymouth rocks but i want to know how to sex the chicks at a early age as i wont be able to keep any cockerels! thanks

today she seemed a lot brighter running around jumping up to me a lot more like herself. i checked her underneath seems all normal doesnt seem hard? but im still concerned as to what made her behave in this manner. i also want to find out to ensure she is safe. thanks guys youre all great :)
i have 7 16 week old white sussex pullets i went to the feed store today to buy some more layer pellets however they did not have any and will only get some more next week. so i got some layer mash instead. will this be ok for a week if not can i do anything else to improve their diet?

okay two chicks were due to hatch on tuesday both of them hatched early (one two days) and i have 6 more in the incubator and i thought they were due for today so i stopped turning them on saturday just in case they were going to hatch early.the humidity is 60%. this sounds really irresponsible...
my 2 day old baby chicks seem to be up and moving around. currently i dip their beaks in their water quite often and tap their food however i dont think they are drinking or eating that often what should i do to encourage them to do so?
