regarding the no laying during the winter....mine have ALWAYS laid during the winter, in fact I get more eggs during the cold months then the warm. During the summer,they molt and go broody. I have gotten up to 20 eggs per day in the winter.

Help! All of my hens have suddenly stopped laying eggs. I have 21 chickens(including 2 roosters). A few of my hens are old and don't lay anymore, BUT my Silver Laced Wyandotte hens(6 all together),BLRW and a few other mixed breeds don't lay eggs anymore and seem to have no interest in doing so...

Thank you everyone.... unfortunately, there weren't any clues,except she stopped eating and drinking. I took a good look at her vent,everything looked normal.

Inspite of my efforts to save her, my girl "Ice Cube"(as our kids named her) passed away during the night. .....She was such a good layer and a good hen. She was my only purebred white leghorn and the smallest hen I had. She will be missed greatly.

I just went out in the barn to check on her.....I think she isn't going to make it through the night.

Thanks....I'm still quite upset about it. The chick was so tame....such a tiny little girl too. Although she wouldn't let anyone else near her,except for me and her momma. I don't like having our big dog out in a kennel.....my husband and I have to make a decision. He is a good dog of the age...
