Welcome Phil, n ty AGAIN Peeps ;) The last baby that hatched yesterday has curled toes n I was just looking for anything on those! The tape thing looks great, baby napping soon to be in progress so he can get flippers ! I'll have to seperate him off though because I doubt he can keep up with his...
Thanks Peeps. Yep , very familiar with genetics have bred n shown Collies n other dogs for a long time. Well, babies are great, no matter the color. Still might be something else in the other 7 in the bator, if they hatch :) ! These were from when she first started laying ans was laying in the...
Ok, so I have come to the conclusion that guineas arent as stupid as we think! Gabbie my only female has kept an eye on her eggs under my broody all this time everyday checking on them. So, broody takes all the guinea babies out for the 1st time today n Gabbie tries to chase her off n steal the...
I'd chance it and start them! I only have one Lavender hen also, so I saved up her eggs n put 18 under a broody hen, 10 have hatched. I moved the rest to my bator because they look good, just behind the other eggs! They also started hatching 3 days earlier then I'd figured they would hatch, so...
Looks like they are Pied Royal Purples. Nice :)

Ok, set Broody DS with eggs from this morning, 2 coocooxRIR crosses, AmercaunaxRIR, and WellsommerX RIR. I'll give her a few more tomorrow and let her go!
Hopefully, mostly hens LOL Chicken n dumplings if not!
Thanks, I guess I'll just give her some eggs and let her do her thing! She's very determined and sooo hard to break it's probably the easiest way out, LOL!
I have a hen that keeps going broody, first time was in Sept, took til Nov to finally break her . Now she's broody again. Should I just give her a few eggs to set out? It's getting to cold time here in Central Texas. This hen is almost impossible to break, and somehow manages to steal eggs and...
I feel your pain, lOL! I have a lil Americana been practicing all week. MY RIR roo even climbed in the ducks nest box to show her how, lOl it was too funny! She watched him for about 5 min, then climbed over him and scooted him out But alas, no eggs yet, although, she checks out all the nest...
Yep, she's going to do that til you can convince her she's not brooding. I've read in here that you can put them in a wire bottomed cage til they break.Could take 3 days. You can try just keeping on taking her eggs. Or, get a roo and let her hatch!
I had A blk Astralorpe ( Tank) just go broody. She's about 1 1/2 yrs old. None of my hens have shown any signs of going broody, til after I got new chicks and keets about mid month, Aug. Then she watched them for a few days, then moved into my big dog crate that I set up in the coop for my 2...
Millet can be found in scratch, most OTC bird feeds. It is always mixed with other seeds. Which guigea and chickens usually like. LOL Here my chickens leave most of the millet, hoping the guinea's will like it! Cause they always go to sprouting THEN the chickens keep em mowed. The patch I have...
LOL, my chickens love the rain. What little we've had in Central Texas this year. Guineas havent seen but a small shower, but they loved it. My 2 Ruens run for cover under the porch. If they had umbrellas they'd probably still run for cover . I guess they think the pond is the only place they...
I think you are right on the dot. The stripes on their heads look just like your pic with the lite Lav. One is just a hair darker like the coral blue. But, not showing the white spots n dots, just solid body color (That's the smaller one of the 2). I'll see if I can snag that lil one tomorrow...
