If the crowing isn't enough, a couple of our roosters stand there making this whining squeaky groaning noise for what seems like hours! It's the most irritating sound I ever heard. (probably cause I'm getting older and cranky) Then the hens join in with their louder version because the favorite...
I have had a hen go broody because she could hear cheeping from our brooder (store bought chicks) I swear it took all of a day. So go to Tractor supply and record those babies then play it back to her :jumpy :D
What SourRoses said ^ I often see our chickens eating some and other times they are limping around almost hog tied with the stuff! :thNote - they do eventually get free of it and don't seem to worried about their impeded progress.
I got very tired of the leghorns flying over fencing and up onto the shed roof and up onto the back deck even though I blocked the steps. Basically wherever they wanted to go they went :barnie The one hen we have left seems to be much more "grounded" And I only keep her because of her eggs :D
Becky's Mom here. I doubt she'll pick up a knife again  I should have been the one doing it as I've been a chef for years, but she was determined to give it a go! She got to eat dinner with plastic :lau

My Daughter (Sour Roses) and I were in Tractor supply getting chicken food and we decided to add some cracked corn as a treat. Looked all up and down the aisle and couldn't find any. Out from the back room comes a sales person so daughter asks him if they have any cracked corn?
"Nah, he says...
Wonderful! I have a question please. How do you get them to open their beak to administer meds? We had to treat several chicks with Cocci ... and oh boy! it was hit and miss and messy and took way too long.
PLUS all those "Planks" will come in handy for mean roosters ☠️ 😁 Keep in mind everyone that Sour Roses is my beloved daughter and always will want architectural drawings for everything, whereas I "best mother person in the world" is the "let's just build it" type ... this is going to be fun! right?
What do we do with her? Hatched May 28th. She is eating fine and drinking, just not growing! Her siblings are 4 times the size of her. We put the rowdiest ones out in the grow out pen and left her 3 "sisters" to keep her company in the brooder. She always wants to snuggle under them (unless it's...
