Yes, it seems everything is ok. I checked her out closely when I bought her and then again this morning and all seems well. She is just extremely shy? Constantly clinching to one of her sisters and almost hiding under her. It seems like a adjustment because at the farm she was very confident...
I'm new to chickens and are raising my first flock. My wife and I originally got 8 but one turned out to be a roo and we sent him to a farm. Few days ago we decided to add 3 more for a total of 10.
I got the 3 new birds (RIR) from a local farmer who sells via creagslist. My birds are about 8-9...
So I know this question has come up in the past posts and I have not seen a resolution or a firm yes/no answer. Since you are all discussing mushrooms here: Can chickens eat them safely?
In the fall I pick chantrelles and we have mountains of them. We use 1/2 fresh and the rest I process for...
I find it comical that people have forgotten what real food should taste like and are now comparing it to the grocery store cardboard that passes as food these days. In my area, (Norht West Puget Sound) there would be a literal line for home grown quality eggs. I just started with chickens and...
I just gave a roo away on Creagslist for free. Took a few days but he went to a good home were he can have a great time in the country crowing all he wants. Im not sure if people will "pay" money for a roo on Creagslist. Let me know how t goes
The Rooster is 5-6 weeks old. Very happy little guy. will sit on my hand and is not aggressive with his sisters. I have been feeding the chicks organic "scratch and peck" feed from Bellingham Wa.
He is free to anyone in the Gig Harbor, WA / Tacoma / Key Peninsula area. E-mail me for pickup...
Wow! Thank you all for the great comments. The chickens are enjoin the little sun that we are finally getting. Looking forward to seeing how they do. They have been in the new coop now for about 2 weeks with a heat lamp. They go outside everyday to play but run inside when the rain comes and if...
The only difference that I noticed early on was that the tail was not developing as fast. Even now the tail is about 1/2 the size of the other 3. My wife says that yes, it did feather out slowly.
Greetings All experts,
We have 4 black australorps that are about 5-7 weeks old They are all from the same batch (i think). One of them looks different, I have a strong suspicion that this is a rooster. This one has a strong pronounced comb and visible wattles developing, the other 3 astralorps...
My wife and I recently decided to keep chickens. We have 8 young birds that are about 6-7 weeks old. I recently completed build the coop and wanted to share some photos. I spent some time on BYC looking at coop designs and desinged one that fits our needs and back yard well. Total cost was...
8 x 4 x 5 tall. Its 2 feet of the ground allowing for a 2 story. We only have 8 birds in it and they are still young. Will post photos as soon as I can.
Its hard to find good help. My motto is do it yourself. I find that its cheaper to buy a new tool, got to library to learn and do it yourself then to try to hire people unless they can provide you with a very specialized skill that a DIY could not quickly learn.
