The drake is blue and the duck is a silver with the chocolate gene. I like both but the hen is a very pretty buff color.

She sold out of blue last year. I have some of her blue and splash. Pretty birds. I'm not sure why hatcheries can't offer blue chicks. All they would have to do is make their breeding pens splash hens eith black males. All the chicks would be blue.

To know what to look for you neef to read the standard of perfection. There wont be a description of blr as they arent an accepted variety, but body type will be the same for all. Start going to some shows to make contact with exhibitors of blrw.

Mottled breed true. Breeding long leg birds keeps you from improving. Keep on clean bedding at all times.

Blackgum Are your silver penciled large fowl? If so I would like to talk to you about them and find out about any sources you might know. Mine are 9 months old and only about 2x the size of bantams. Is a private message here OK?

Our muscovey hen brings them off the nest and runs with the other muscovies, other ducks, geese, turkeys, and chickens. There have been no problems with the ducklings. We provide unmedicated chick starter for the ducklings.

/height/700[/IMG] Went to visit my JBBA district director yesterday to talk birds and came home with these. They are still a little frazzled from the trip, and wobbly sitting on our hands, and my poor photographing ability. So you have to forgive them a little in these pics.

Consultree, if you are wanting eggs from quality birds 6 really isn't enough as you can expect 25% of them to not hatch. Of the ones that hatch expect 33% to be culls due to long legs. You are looking at 2 or 3 chicks to keep assuming a 100% hatch on the eggs that will hatch.
