I'm rather disappointed with my lav orpingtons. The one almost a year old hasn't started laying yet, the other 2 are a month younger, 1 was laying but she stopped. I was hoping to have some eggs to hatch.

As far as I can tell, its a male/female pair because one has a little one bib. The female is laying eggs. I know nothing about mailing birds, but if you want to pay whatever that costs... I would just give them to you.

Mine minded Thursday and Friday. They mostly all stayed in the coop. Even the peacocks that normally roost 20 feet up in a tree joined them in the coop and spent the night there. I increased their feed and gave them extra protein. I've been getting about a dozen a day from the 31 layers.

My 6 yr old son is creeped out by them. lol. as long as they don't wiggle he's ok. Everybody else has been digging through them with me and picking out the pupae. They love getting some to feed to the chicks. They sure tickle your hand.
