Rooster will not accept new hen

It's a very good size hutch, not the kind you would buy at the feed store. My husband made it. It has a thick rubber mat on the floor and I put pine shavings on top. There's a perch and a small dog igloo she can go in. I've raised many chicks in there. It's very secure.

Rooster will not accept new hen

I have a large rabbit hutch inside the chicken yard and she would be able to see the rest of the flock and they'd be able to see her. Would that be an appropriate place to put her until she matures?

Heated Water Bowl - Fire Started in Indianapolis, killed 6 chickens and 60k damage

How sad for the chickens and the owners. I use a small plastic bucket and use a small heater meant to keep birdbaths open. It works out good.

Hello, I just lost my beautiful white chicken, not sure if she was a leghorn. She was 11 years old and very friendly. I think she died in her sleep during the night because I found her in the coop under a perch. I got her when she was only 4 months old from a school that had hatched some...

One day old chick cannot stand

Hello, I have a broody hen that has been hatching eggs. Upon checking her last night I found a newly hatched chick (still wet) about a foot away from the nest. I thought it was dead, it was ice cold. I brought it inside our house and put it under the heat lamp and it started showing...

    Mother hens attacking chicks

Hello, I'm new to the forum. I've had many eggs hatch under broody hens and just recently my hen has so far hatched 4 out of 8 eggs. The first three were black, then came a yellow one. The mother hen proceeded to peck the yellow one around the nostrils and drew blood. I've never had...
