I had to give this guy a new home on a farm, as I cannot have roosters where I live. I'm still trying to figure out what breed he is, though.
So, please, if anyone can help.....
Do you think so?? God, I hope not. She is nearly 8 weeks old and has not crowed yet. Her comb is still pretty small for her age and it's not red and she doesn't have wattles.
Ack, I hope she's not a rooster.
Any ideas on identifying what breed of gamefowl I have here?
Her comb looks like a rose comb. She's affectionate. Small in size.
She's about 7 weeks old now and taking forever to feather out.
And here she was at 2.5 weeks. Her comb looked more pea-like here,
but it has since grown...
Here's my mystery chicken. I think she's definitely a gamefowl, but was wondering if she is big enough for anyone to tell me what breed she may be. Her comb now looks to be a rose comb, and not a pea comb. She's still small but unsure if she's a bantam or if game birds are just small...
Love it! (This is your chicken neighbor, btw!)
Do you have a latch on the nesting box? I've seen a baby raccoon in my yard a while back, and I'd worry about one of them finding their way into your coop through the nesting box.
Comb looks to be a pea comb. I'll add another picture. No feathers on legs. Legs are clean as can be.
She is from questionable beginnings that I was unable to confirm, but I believe it to be a very disorganized street-type flea market. Location has had some chicken fighting problems in...
I was given a baby chick by someone who could not care for it, and I'm wondering what kind of chicken it could be. She/he appears to have a pea comb. In this picture, she/he is about 2.5 weeks old. She is feathering super slow, and her wings are short (??), unlike the standard size chickens...
Y'all have made my day! I'll update photos again in a couple weeks and keep it going until she's fully filled out. I had trouble finding a good growth visual from pullet to hen on SLW, so if I can "create" one, maybe it will help others.
