    Frame help please!

Ok, so took in all that was posted. Had a really crazy couple of weeks but now I’m getting started today or tomorrow. Couple more questions.... 1) OSB or plywood? 2) if there will be days between hanging the walls and painting, should I do a quick primer, or leave it raw. 3) best beer to...

    Frame help please!

Do I paint right on top of the OSB, or is it suggested I use some type of primer first?

    Frame help please!

Use all treated lumber for rafters and studs?

    Frame help please!

Are there brackets I should use to connect the front and back wall to the rafters?

    Frame help please!

I should add that we are not building a run, as our chickens free range all day, so the coop will only be for night.

    Frame help please!

So, with all the help received on my previous post, I’ve decided to: 1) build instead of repurpose a shed 2) utilize a dirt floor 3) use blackjack 57 on buried corner posts a up a foot inside and outside all the walls to protect wood from the wet ground. So I’ll attach my horrible little...

Is this a liquid? Searching for it I’m only finding something that comes in rolls.

Floor type advice for barn style coop

That is a very interesting idea. I’ve read a lot but must have missed that idea. What’s the cost of the sealant for your size project?

Floor type advice for barn style coop

No sketches really, or none I’d worthy of posting. The idea I have in my head is an 8x8, sloped roof shed. Door on front with a 2x2 sliding window on each side. 2x4 framing. My original plan had a second door on the back, with a concrete floor, allowing a quick hose down of the floor, with...

Floor type advice for barn style coop

About to start work on building a new coop, but keep going back and forth on the idea of a cement pad for the floor. Originally considered it to make cleaning easier. The coop will be positioned next to the compost bins, and figured on weekly pulling out the crapped up hay, replacing with fresh...

Anyone with experience feeding brewers mash?

I read quite a while ago where brewers spent mash is good to feed chickens. I've made a deal with a local brewery to get buckets at a time in trade for a few eggs. But...since it's new to me, I'm not sure how to store it and feed it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    flies flies flies ahhh!!!! HELP

I live in the Smoky Mountains. The flies are out of control the last couple of years. Though...we've added a bunch of chickens. I've tried everything on this thread, plus pennies in a bag, vanilla car fresheners, and even fly predators, that come about every three weeks and are supposed to feed...

Gah!!! This round of chicks is driving me batty!!!

OMG! This batch of chicks, which are now...maybe 6 weeks old? I don't remember. Anyway...they are constantly kicking all their feed out of the feeder. Now, when they were on a floor coop, I just wouldn't refill the feeder until they ate the stuff off the ground first. But I put them in the new...

Both eyes closed. Whitish liquid fluid pouring from one eye....

I have some expired by 5 months Tylan 50, which I'm considering using. Nothing around here is open to buy it until tomorrow. Typically stuff like that doesn't go "bad" so much as it loses effectiveness. So maybe I should use this stuff today, and get fresh stuff tomorrow.

Both eyes closed. Whitish liquid fluid pouring from one eye....

I wasn't able to, until I used the hot compress. One of the eyes just looked like it was inflamed too much to comfortably open it. The other was crusted shut. Both eyes now "can" open, but I'm going to go out there in a few minutes to see if she's actually opening them so she can get around.

Both eyes closed. Whitish liquid fluid pouring from one eye....

My thought would have been the same thing, except it's on both eyes, not just one. Before reading your post, I went out with a wet warm cloth and cleaned both eyes. But both sides of the head are showing some inflammation. I've seen birds infected with a CRD of one type or another, but have...

Both eyes closed. Whitish liquid fluid pouring from one eye....

I have a 4ish month pullet who is currently hiding in a laying box with both eyes closed. When I picked her up, I noticed how a white liquid is nearly pouring out of one eye. I'm at a loss at this point.I've seen some things go through my flock. But have never seen anything like this. Opinions?

Neighbor's dog continually tries to enter our yard.

I'm a dog lover, and have 2 of my own, so I don't say this lightly. But that dog now knows where it can have a bunch of fun and if your neighbor is not willing to do something about it, you should warn him that you will shoot his dog if you see it in your yard ever again, and then follow through...
