Any frizzle I have ever had of any breed, I could tell at that age if they were frizzle or not. Those wing feathers would be curling if it were. I don't know of any birds that had straight feathers like that and turned out a frizzle.
Just thought I would drop in and share a picture of my only (and most likely infertile Serama roo). He is 11 months old, and I think he is turning out pretty good. He was in a hatch that was born on the 4th of July... so they all got festive names. This is Blaster.
Oh I didn't think that is what were getting at, but it popped into my head and I thought I would ask. My luck I would get a ticket for something I thought was perfectly legal lol, my luck hasn't been to great lately.
I easily saw 10 Pekins there today, and that was only in the part of the lake I could see.
I didn't get their number, but they have mine... so if they call I will let them know I will take her.
Thanks, I plan on only letting her have 10 or so eggs to hatch. No more then that anyway, if I think she can't cover them well I'll cut that number down more.
I want some of the ducklings for myself, and I can easily sell the extras. I always have people trying to buy my ducks when they come...
She is a Pekin duck, and you can tell she was someone's pet because she comes straight out of the water when she sees you... but there must have been quite a few people try to catch her because she stays just far enough away. I have plenty of room for another duck, if I get her caught I could...
Shameless bump lol. I would really like opinions on this, I haven't found anything that says how long people wait before they decide they need to take the eggs to incubate.
Well... she has one of the rings in her mouth then it is around her neck, and a second ring is around her neck. We talked to 2 girls that work at the park and they have been trying to catch her for a week. Our attempt at catching her failed. She keeps her distance and the geese were not helping...
My aunt told me that yesterday while she was at the park she saw a white duck with the 6 pack rings around his neck. She said it looks like it is very close to cutting into his neck. I am willing to go try to catch it, but I don't know if we can get it done with just me, my aunt, and my son. The...
Nope.. cause then I would have to explain to these two what happened to their favorite chickens.
These are my 2 favorite hens, and my son and nephew think they hung the moon.
(Yeah don't pay attention to the background... it is a work in progress lol)
(I'm sure yall are thrilled that I have another newbie question lol.)
Ok so I have 4 Cayugas, 1) 2 year old girl and 2) girls over a year old... then of course my drake.
I have left their eggs in the nest but I'm not sure how long to leave them before I decide they aren't going to go broody...
I eat my Cayuga eggs. They don't taste any different then a chicken egg to me honestly. My Cayuga girls lay about 5-6 eggs a week, each. One duck hen kept our fridge stocked with eggs while I hatched all of the chicken eggs I had. We don't eat an over abundance of eggs though.
I have never had...
Oh I couldn't imagine turning 74+ eggs! lol
I set 12 eggs tonight from my neighbor, he is giving me a dozen eggs a week to hatch. Found my first Cayuga egg of the year in the coop today also, so if she isn't sitting on them by next Sunday I will have about 6-12 duck eggs in next week. (Depends...
Well I think I am in over my head now. I have 2 cheapy incubators, one for incubating and the other for hatching. I hatched all of last year and finally turned the incubators off around January... and just fired my incubators back up again.
I had a dog problem at the end of last year that...
