The white one looks like my white leghorn roosters. But Im new to chickens. The black one in the third picture looks like a rooster and the other 2 hens. Again, I'm new at this!
Now I can set up my auto waters! And stop having to fill my waters a dozen times a day since its only June and already 100 degrees here! But...
Do they just know to drink from there? Do I need to show them the nipples some how? I will be setting one up in the coop outside for my big girls (7...

Exactly! Lol. Its a promotion they do every year the weekend before Easter. I wanted to get them last year but DH told me no, this year I found BYC when they posted their sign about it a few weeks prior and started my research! And come April 16th I was bringing home my first chickens!

Yay! Thank you! You told me just what I was hoping to hear. I started out with 7 but a puppy we had got a hold of one when I ran insdie really quick and the neighbors dog got the other one. But I've got 3 girls out of the bunch, and 5 more chicks in the brooder so here's hoping for more...

Yes I do, and a picture of the final chick:
The "girls" look nothing like the "boys" but the girls combs are starting to get larger and a little pinker, plus the tail feathers are starting to round. They were "free" chicks from Ace Hardware when you bought a 50lb bag of chick...

Thank you! That's just what I was wanting to hear! Um, 7 weeks I believe. I need to get a picture of chick #5 and see what ya'll think but the little booger is fast and never stands still!

Thank you! I am concerned because their tail feathers have started to round, like my 2 I was told were roos. But their combs and wattles are barely anything.
Oops! Guess I should have added that! Yes it will stay put, but I will be hinging the roof on the run so I can open it up and clean it out, I will be using sand as we are in Florida and theres no avoidng it! I also dont want something I can walk around it, just something comfortable for my chicks.
Im working on the blueprint for my coop/run and want to know what size is a good height for the run? Right now I have 3-7 week old White Leghorns, and (3)-day old Speckled Sussex and (2)-day old Light Brahmas. I know the Brahmas are suppose to be big birds so what size is good? Right now I have...
We did a PVC pipe coop and I am just putting a tarp over part of it. Its 10X10 and 22 inches high with hardware cloth coving it. Sorry I dont have pictures, this is just our coop for now to buy me more time on the actual one, DH thinks we're done though!

Thats what I thought, I looked at hatchery pictures before I went so I knew but was so excited I just went with what she said! Yay for more chicks! DH is gonna kill me
I just got back from the farmers markets, I got 3 speckled sussex and 2 light brahmas, or so I was told.
Here they are!
Are these really Light Brahmas?
2 of the 3 speckled sussex
I need something that's friendly, interactive, quiet, loves attention/affection. I was looking at the Sussex and they seem to really fit but I want between 4-6 hens and wanted to try and get a couple different kinds to try out. I'd love a rooster too if I could get a quiet friendly one! Any...

That's what I was thinking but searched the covenants to see if it said was was considered common and it didnt have a list, and it only says its cant be a horse...
We live on half an acre with a 6' privacy fence so I'm thinking as long as I keep them within my fence no one will ever...
Thanks! I was so excited about getting them I forgot to ask if they knew what kind they were! I tried to get a picture of the ones I think are girls but they are so hard to catch! But the "girls" have virtually no comb what so ever and don't act like these to do. Guess I will be looking for new...
