    New roo issue

Well Sally I'm amazed that I still have 2 eyes then. I do wear glasses as well but the number of hens I've cuddled... well it's a lot. Especially Beaky who is handicapped with a bottom part of her beak is jacked up and cocked to the side. I've had to baby her along. Thanks for responding!

    New roo issue

Good morning all..... a few weeks back I shared the story of my frizzle roo that was trying to flog me and was very aggressive. I gave up the ghost and gave him away. That was last Wednesday. The energy in the coop was wonderful. So relaxed and the two remaining roos seemed to enjoy having...

    Aggressive Roo

This morning he ignored me. It's so bizarre. He never flew at me, just acted like he'd like to spur but never connected. My entire crew is 6-9 months. He was with the younger group but they've all basically grown up together. Noone has any exposure to them but me and my husband but he's...

    Aggressive Roo

Hello all.... I have a flock of 19 which include 3 roo's - 1 Americana and 2 Frizzle. All the crew were purchased around the same time and grew up together. Everything has been just fine and dandy until recently when the small black frizzle roo decided he didn't like me. At first I thought it...

    Limestone dust

Thinking of changing over my coop floor from shavings to sand. The girl at the sand place said I should use Limestone Dust as it's cheaper. Has anyone ever used that? Just wondering if that's even a "thing". TIA! Located in S/Central PA. Calling for snow squalls tonight. UGH Winter needs...

To keep or not to keep???

I rescued a Cayuga male (Cranberry Sauce) about 2 years ago that has terrorized my hens AND turkeys trying to mate with them since we brought him home. My DH went to Tractor Supply 2 months ago and picked up 2 baby ducks (Pekins) for him to play with. He totally ignores them. They are bigger...

    Favorite Pigeon Treats

Is this something I can give them every day - like when I go see them in the morning and in the eve? They are my husband's but I enjoy going out and talking to them before I go to work and when i get home. I'd love for them to love to see me coming. :-)

    Feathers? Illness or molt?

No their actual run is dirt and sand. They are free rangers and the rocky area is right outside the run. The two girls feet aren't bad at all compared to the white male. His feet are swollen. Is there anything I can do about that? I got the black turkeys to keep and the white ones to...

    Feathers? Illness or molt?

Hello all. I have 5 turkeys, 2 males (1 white and 1 black) and 3 females (2 white and 1 black). The white ones seem to have an issue with their feathers. This is Lisa and Lily. Lisa has more than Lily, Lily has lost most of hers on her back as well. Lester the white male has his broken...

    SNAKE ~~~~~~~~ FREAKED HELP!

Sitting in my living room last night my husband notices a snake slithering across the floor. He was able to snag it with the grill tongs and take it outside. I have never seen a snake on our property. I specifically have 6 guinea fowl for this purpose. We feel that the snake must have gotten...

    PA UKE

I found this chart and it was more along the lines of day 6 with the yolk broke. GAWD! The thing is there has been no chick in that nest for 6 days. Because I always get the eggs under them because the box is high.

    PA UKE

Thank you but no it didn't look like that. The yolk was broken - unsure if it was how I cracked it, but there was a substantial amount of blood because I even noticed the shell had leftover blood in it - and I looked closer and there was a dark black mass like an eyeball or what I would assume...
