I have a photographer friend that will be doing a photo shoot in the Des Moines Iowa area and she is looking for Embden geese for the shoot. Does anyone know of breeders or someone that has some? Thanks in advance.
I doubt that there is a vet around me that would have a clue on what to do for ducks. Heck we have to haul our horses over 30 minutes away for vet care. They only deal in dogs and cats around me and I live in farm country. lol
I have some vertericyn wound and infection care spray. I will try...
She has had weekly bath tub swims, they are just being put outside in a bigger pen so will have a small swimming pool for swimming in. She has been in the house because we felt she and another duckling were in need of more attention than the others in the same pen.
What is the cause of the wet around the eye, on the feathers? This is the only one with a issue of this wet and dirty around the eye. She has access to fresh water daily for cleaning and putting her head in. I just don't know what causes this. Also is it fairly normal for eyes to be like this as...
they are 2 ducklings out of 16 that were hatched March 15th, they were kept in a insulated building with a heat lamp and fed starter/grower crumbles and water. We brought them home and they were kept in the laundry room with a heat lamp, both at the breeder and here they are kept with pine...
We have a couple of pekin ducklings that are 8 weeks old. One has yet to really grow out her feathers and both have or seem to have raspy breathing. So I'm curious is there something I can do or give them? Or will they just out grow their breathing issue. I'm wondering if I should give them a...
Thank you for this thread. It explains alot, we are first time duck owners and I was really worried about our ducks this winter as it snows and gets cold. We were below zero windchills yesterday in MN. Explains alot as to why the ducks are outside and rarely in their brooder house. I have their...
My son and his Grand Champion Breeding Ducks, Grand Champion Overall Poultry and he won another Grand Champion Poultry award with them too. Yes, he looks oh so thrilled in the pic, but lack of sleep and heat played a huge part in it.
The judge absolutely loved the runners. They are not standing...
Here is the eye pic. But now we have a hen that has an old toe injury she has her nail yet but where it connects to her toe is swollen a bit. So I'm thinking he will get docked points because of it?
The ducks are pretty calm when being handled. They just know I won't go in their "pond" after them. lol yes he will be asked questions on his ducks, why he chose them etc. It will be a interesting show as most of the other kids show call ducks or pekins. And not much for breeder types. We were...
Yes I will try tomorrow night or Friday night. They decided to jump in the pool when I came in the pen. Since its been almost 100 degrees here I wasn't going to chase them around by myself and stress them.
I will see if we can get a better one tomorrow night. The bottom 'eyelid' area seems to be a little droopy so I was worried about it. Thanks for the pic that helps my son know the coloring as well we were not sure and the American Standards book we have doesn't have a picture of the saxony's...
Here are my son's runner ducks he wants to show in 4h next week. He signed up to do breeding ducks so he has to choose between the two trios of runners and the saxony ducks. I posted about the saxony's on another post.
