My neighbor is a jerk. These two were down by the water's edge. Even while he was grabbing and throwing their eggs AT them, all they did was hiss. Doesn't seem too aggressive to me. Hopefully they are nesting somewhere nearby. I still see them every day.
Yes, I thought so too, but from things I've read online it says you can get rid of "aggressive" ones. These two aren't but who could prove it? Also, I was looking for a peaceful way to remedy it since our properties are so close.
Hello,
I live on a lake and have wild geese and ducks. A pair of geese have made a nest in my neighbor's yard. She had two or three eggs and I just saw the neighbor go out and whip their eggs AT them into the lake and then viciously rip their nest up and throw it. :( Now she's still sitting...
Is there anyone in the Akron Ohio area who would be able to home four pekin ducks and one mallard drake? They were left on a friend's lake and she has been feeding them all summer and thought she had a home for them but it fell through. She doesn't have shelter for them and needs to find...
I am home all day and spend ALOT of time with him. When I do leave for a bit and come home I'll say, "Do you want to come see Mommy?" and he'll jump on his perch in excitement. Yesterday when I got him out he jumped up onto my shoulder and started rubbing his little head on my neck. For the...
Thanks for the reply. I just went in to cover him, he was all groggy and I just softly said goodnight baby..and slowly pulled it up.. he seemed fine. Thank goodness! lol I think it was because I didn't have a fluid motion last night and ended up horrifying him! lol Thanks for your help!
I got a young budgie from a really good shop that hand raises the babies and he is super sweet and super tame already. Just love him. He is really getting comfortable with us and loves getting out and riding around on my shoulder. The only time that doesn't seem quite right is his bedtime...
I had a lone duck who had imprinted HEAVILY on people. If you could maybe put him with ONE other duck (younger than he is) that might help him to get used to a duck without being intimidated. That's what happened with mine and helped him a lot. He was afraid of ducks and I think because of...

This is very true. I raised a single mallard and took him out EVERY day, ALL day long at my lake so that he would be around the other ducks. I took him out daily so that he could forage for his food. By the grace of God a young mallard female who lost her mother attached herself to...
That is hideous. I would find a number for animal control or something and even if they don't do anything, perhaps they can tell you who CAN do something. That story makes me sick.
Thanks Cat and Desertdarlene, for your replies... I'll keep them cut back on the food (even though I LOVE feeding them!!) If they don't go south I will provide them shelter, food, protection, and love!! I sure hope that if they do go, they come back in the spring and have sweet little babies!!!
Here I am again...I'm the one who rescued the mallard egg in May. I read all of you guys' duck posts often and am jealous of you who get to keep your wonderful ducks! I have cut back on feeding my mallard SIGNIFICANTLY and have even left for a week or so. He and his girlfriend do fine, but...
Mrs. Clucky,
If this makes you feel any better, I rescued and raised a mallard and he was able to fly at seven weeks. Maybe these little guys were the same ones and they have learned to fly. I really think sometimes necessity makes them faster learners!
I would just like to share this for anyone who finds an egg or even a baby mallard and wants to rescue it. I have learned ALOT this summer. I made it as short as I could, while still trying to give the full story.
There were three eggs but only one hatched. I live right on a lake with MANY...
