    Life span of chickens

    I raise my chickens as pets. The eggs are just a bonus. I have different breeds, mostly silkies, which I breed myself . The other breeds I get from a hatchery. I feed them Layena feed, with a variety of fruits , vegetables, and fresh grass. Thanks everyone for the input!

    I have 5 roosters in my flock. I offered to give one to my friend who has all hens so she could experience the excitement of hatching her own chicks. She politely refused, saying her husband wouldnt eat the eggs fearing they would be fertilized.

    It's a hen. I have a Polish rooster ( named Spot of course) . He is the same color as yours but the plumage on his head is spiky. A hen's plumage is rounded.
