Thanks. They have been together since they were little ducklings and as you can tell, they aren't full grown yet. But they are fine now, have never seen them fight or anything. Its reassuring to get a second opinion though.
I have 1 peking and 2 mallards. First I thought they were all girls, until one of my mallard's heads started turning green, now the other mallard's head is turning green and my peking has a curled tail feather...I think I have 3 boys. Will that be a problem?
I would rather have your cooler weather! It's so hot here you cant go outside for 10 minutes without feeling like your gonna have a heat stroke, and when It does finally rain and cools off a little bit, its so humid you cant breathe. I can't even enjoy my ducks because of the heat. I see them...
Great! Cleaning out the pond tomorrow and in the bricks will go. Really gonna look into the hardwire cloth now. When we first built it I suggested that and putting sod on top so they would have grass...but I didnt realize how expensive grass could be...so no go on the grass squares. Probably...
So cute! I have 1 pekin that is still a little skittish around me. It loves a flashlight though and at night will go right where I point it, even to my feet.

A cinder block, a few paving stones or a rock that is about 1/2 the depth of the pool will help as a great stepping stool
I got a few bricks from my grandmother that I havent put in there yet. Would that be ok or would it hurt their feet? Ever since Luckie had her niacin defficiency...
And the hardwire cloth wont hurt their little tootsies? Tried to tell my husband that we needed something on the bottom but he didn't believe me. He's the reason they got put in the kennel to die in the first place. I'm a little more protective than he is, they are my babies. There is usually...
lol well all I did was build up the dirt we dug out around the pond. They are having a hard time getting out of it though, we have had to actually remove the pekin out 3 times and she hasnt got back in after she spent the whole night in it. So were trying to figure out what to put in so they...
I have 1 pekin and 2 mallards. Started out with 3 pekins and we put them in the dog kennel in the background and my dog unlocked the door and killed 2 of them. The surviror made it to the pond way down the hill. So we renamed her Luckie Duckie . So that was a learning experience. All the wire...
There it is! We put them in it a about 15 minutes ago and they were a little scared to get in the water. My mallard jumped in first and the other 2 were quick to follow. They havent come out of it yet! Its so hot out there, I dont blame them!
We dont have neighbors butthe solar lights are a good idea! We have kennel wire as the fence actualy concreted into the ground, chicken wire around the bottom so nothing can stick their hands in it, a house, a pool, and deer mesh over the top so nothing can get in
We just finished our duck pen!! But im a little sad about putting them outside. Were on our way to the beach for the day so they are going out there tomorrow so I can watch and make sure they are ok. Ill post pictures later!
Thank you for posting this!! My poor Luckie looked like duck B. I've been crushing up Niacin pills in her water and she is improving so much! But according to this I've been overdosing her. lol I'll have to cut back
I just want to thank everyone who helped me out in finding a treatment for Luckie's legs. I've been sprinkling niacin in her water and I can already see an improvement. She can walk from one end of the tote from her water to her food now without falling. I love this forum and everyone in it!! So...
I made sure to get that kind. It even says on the bottle that it may cause flushing I might just be seeing things but It seems like she's already walking a little better. She keeps falling but she's keeping her feet a little further apart, not directly on top of each other. I know its probably...
I bought some Niacin pills from Rite Aid today that im going to crush in the water and their food is down to 15%. Got the peas and I sort of have to trick her into eathing them by mixing it with the regular foot because she doesnt seem to like it or any other green stuff I put in there for her...
