My ducks and chickens sleep in the same pen every night.
They all have their own little "spot" to sleep. They don't seem to pay any attention to each other. (the chickens and ducks)
Sorry to hear that you'll have to get rid of your ducks.
However, I hope you will be more conscious of the responsibilities that come with caring for an animal in the future.
I've heard that putting river rock around their source of water helps (prevents them from picking up scoops of dirt).
I've been watching craigslist for some free rock, I'll post the results if and when I get some.
Sorry if this topic already exists, I couldn't find anything in the search.
I'm fairly certain all my hens are more than old enough to start laying eggs. At night I put them in their pen, but at day they are free to wander the yard.
Every morning I check their pen for eggs and not a single...
Hi everybody.
I looked outside and noticed one of my Pekin hens has what looks like an eye infection. I had 3 Pekins last year, and they all had a similar condition. Strange thing is, my Rouens/Runners/Cayugas seem to be just fine.
Anybody have an idea of what this is? Or what should I give...

Thanks! Yeah it's really easy to clean. That hose laying next to it is just a short piece I use to siphon the water out, then I just tip it on end and spray it down.

Thanks! Yes those are cinder blocks on the inside I have arranged to be stepping stones so they can get out...
My 6x1 galvanized stock tank finally came in. This was a bit more expensive than some other pools I've seen in this thread, but I felt the durability was worth it.
My dog gets really excited around running water for some reason...
I will never keep another goat.
Their poop just does not decompose at all! It's coming up on 2 years since I had my goat, and there are still little goat-pellets all over the place!
As far as riding animals go, I have always wanted a camel.
Does anybody here keep them? How does the care of them compare with other larger livestock (ie horses, cattle, llamas, etc..)? Are they easy to train?
This information is available in bits and pieces around the internet, but I...
Oh man, lots of frustrating things in your post there.
The lady "rescuing" the duck from the pit bull only to have her own dog attack it, a careless vet...
GRRRRR!!!!
I have a galvanized poultry feeder for my ducks.
Behind them is a 3 gallon poultry waterer that I put out for them so they have something to wash down the feed with. When they were babies I had a smaller feeder that looks a little different, but they are easy to find at any hardware/feed...
I currently have 6 week old silkies in with my ducks every night, they really don't seem to pay any attention to each other.
....except when the ducks drink all their water.
This thread will definetly give you some really great ideas:

I just ordered one of these:
It's a 6x1 galvanized stock tank. It should be here in a couple of weeks, I hope it'll work out as well as I'd imagine.
