Hello Fellow Chicken Michiganders. I have a question with hopes someone will reply. I have a bantam hen approx. 4 yrs.old that I want to add back into my current flock of standard egg layers (approx. 16-18 months) About 6 wks. ago some of the standard hens decided to pick and bully her. They...

Hi Guys......Just popping in to ask a question but first I want to say I hope everyone weathered the storms that rolled through last night. We basically just had the thunder and lighting along with the rain, nothing serious and not a lot of high winds. My question: Does anyone know what days of...

    Rescue Chicken.....what am I?

Yes, generic Rooster...lol The other red was the next questionable. The silver laced definitely was noticeable right off the bat...my 12 yr.old even said.....That one is a rooster! I'd say I'm fairly green to this chicken stuff even though I was raised being around them my whole childhood...

    Rescue Chicken.....what am I?

Well that makes 2 Roo out of the supposedly 6 hens. I specifically asked for hens.....and to make things even better there is one more that is questionable! I have to laugh at this because if anyone could of seen the place....chickens everywhere!! I'd pick one out and by the time the guy caught...

    Rescue Chicken.....what am I?

This fall I got a so called rescue flock of 6 hens from a very young guy who I think got in over his head with his chicken project. He had chickens all over the place, different ages, different breeds & some obliviously mixed. Looked to me like the breeding/hatching got out of control. Well 1 of...

All 3......I have a friend who use to work in a governors office. His job was to send replies back. Yes basic generic form letter BS. Don't know, but maybe being bombarded with letters & phones calls might get their attention. The reply says do not hesitate to contact me directly.

I haven't had many frozen for I try get out to the coop a few extra times when it's this cold. I am disappointed in the drop in production. We go through a lot of eggs quite regularly and I thought I was gonna have to buy some the other day for the baking I wanted to do.

Yuppers.... Boy is my thinking! Always had this funny hunch ever since I got the so called rescue flock of 6. I haven't heard him crow except for once and I wasn't even sure it was him. I thought it was my Bantam Roo at first in low tone but then few minutes later the Bantam sounds off.....no...

    Ivermectin for treatment of mites/lice?

Thanks for your reply.....I was going to treat tonight but it got too late & the bugs would of carried me away. The morning will work best...I can take them one by one off the roost, treat and toss in the run. I am also going to treat the run too. Thanks again.

Hi Chicken Grandma And Thanks for replying....I did read about using tea bags! I just checked on her again. She seems fine but that eye is swollen shut. Of course I noticed this just when we were ready to eat supper!! So now that I've got the kitchen partially cleaned up I'm gonna go play nurse.
