Things I would note/read up on:
1) Worms. Make sure you check the eyelids (search ''famacha chart'') to see if they are pale, and need to be de-wormed. Also rotate dewormer types.
2) Check hooves every month; trim as necessary. It is really easy to forget this.
3) If your bucks are not...
So they pick E.cuniculi from the ground? ick. That is not comforting! Right now, most of my rabbits are on cages off the ground, but I've got 2 litters of rabbits in runs on the ground. I guess I'll have to watch in case anyone else starts walking funny.
Thanks for all the responses!
Thanks for the reply. I'm not surprised there is a lot of dog fighting, and I understand that landlords don't want to have any problems, but what is unfair is that responsible dog owners will affected as well as those who let their dogs get into trouble.
I try to do a mix with my rabbits. I just put 2 litters in tractors (2'x6') on the ground to eat grass, BUT they also have pellets. I have noticed in our frequent escapee rabbits that roam about the yard that they do get fat fast. However, I cannot provide unlimited grass/scraps to my caged...
http://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2012/08/29/pit-bull-owners-face-decision-to-abandon-their-dogs-or-be-evicted-from-their-homes/
I read an article today about a ruling in Baltimore, MD, that is forcing pit bull owners to either abandon their dogs, or be evicted from their homes. Even though I am not...
Thanks for the responses. I put her down this morning. I am curious---what is the actual cause of wry neck? I've heard of it, but not really what causes it. As in, how do they get the parasites? (Since this is the only time out of 5-6 escapees I've had in the last 2years)
Hey ya'll,
I have a rabbit (domestic escapee) who has been living loose in our yard for over a month now, and I've be unable to catch her. Anyway, she was okay till today---when I came out to feed the other caged rabbits, she wasn't walking right. She sort of weaved and fell on her side, then...
Okay soo our two dogs are just infested with fleas, and it's getting to be a real pain. They're constantly scratching, and smell bad too. Usually it isn't this bad, but our JRT mix has developed a flea allergy in the last couple years, and it's just awful. He stinks too.
So---I need help on...
Who used Dogsbite.org as a source?
That site is a very biased site--against pit bull-type dogs ( including against dogs that aren't even pit bulls, but ''look'' like pit bulls).
Most of their ''information'' is highly inaccurate, and they only cite attacks of pit bulls, and dogs reported as...
I have currently 10 goats (2 adult bucks, 6does, 2 bucklings). They're all pygmy/nigerian mixes of sort. Except one, who I'm fairly certain is 100% pygmy. I've met some real sweet, fun goats in my almost 5years of owning goats, and some downright-pain-in-the-butt goats.
My current goats' names...
Get a kidding kit ready! Looks like she is due very soon---if she really is only 8-9months old, I'd recommend you get numbers of an experienced goat or sheep owner (or vet) who can help you out if she has a hard time kidding. 3months is way too young to be bred, and the chances of her having a...
I think pit bull type dogs can be just as gentle, and trustworthy as any lab or retriever, maybe even better than some so-called ''best family dogs'' or ''friendliest'' dogs. However, I am a bit concerned about people who say pit bull type dogs are '' Just like labs and retrievers''. They're...
My favorite really is anything bulldog---(APBT, AST, SBT, American bulldog, Boxer, etc.)
Why? Because they are arguably the most ''multi-purpose'' dogs ;)
But I'd LOVE to get a Bull Lurcher (Pit Bull-type/Sighthound cross).
(Owned a ''bull lurcher type''. Loved to work all day---or be a...
The only thing I can think of right now is just make sure she is getting A LOT of exercise ( pack walks on leash, not playing in the yard) so she never has excessive energy to take out on other dogs/people. I'd definitely look into Dog Whisperer techniques, and the Dog Breed Info site has some...
It has been the upper 80's for the most part, humid, not as hot as it was before(---95-102degrees.)
They don't seem to have issues eating the food---the crumbles don't seem too big...
and I did lose that other baby....10left :(
Help! My Guinea Keets are dropping dead everywhere. One of my Guinea hens hatched 21 keets between the July 4th and 7th.
Now I've got 11, and one is dying as I write this.
I don't know if it's an illness, injury or genetic factor.
First I thought they weren't getting enough water---but their...
