Flea product help

Okay soo our two dogs are just infested with fleas, and it's getting to be a real pain. They're constantly scratching, and smell bad too. Usually it isn't this bad, but our JRT mix has developed a flea allergy in the last couple years, and it's just awful. He stinks too.
So---I need help on choosing a flea treatment/preventative product!
The last flea thing we used was a kirkland brand from Costco which was utterly worthless, and we've used Frontline with mixed results.
What do ya'll think about Capstar? I used that once on a rescue kitten when a friend gave me a couple doses. It seemed to work for the kitten, but how well for adult dogs? Does Program have to be used with it?
I'd love to try something more natural in the future, but right now, I need something that works fast and if possible, isn't too expensive (I know, hard to ask!)

Any input greatly appreciated!

When we had a problem only Comfortis (perscription or order from overseas- same price either way) worked for more than a few days. We tried so many other things and they were on flea meds (Frontline plus or another topical $$ one) when the infestation started. I guess a lot of the fleas are now resistant to the topical treatments.

The Adams flea spray worked well for dog bedding, etc, but just couldn't knock them out alone.

I have 3 maltese mom dad and baby girl. The baby ended up with a bald rear due to flea allergy. I tried everything! Oh and Front line does not work! Used it and found nothing but live fleas never dead ones! Oh and fleas don't die and fall off these guys. I have to comb them out. I removed all the carpet in my house. Only to find out that fleas like wood floors too! We are not totally flea free yet but after bombing repeatedly and taking the plunge at the vets office on REVOLUTION. Which does not repel fleas! So comes the Skin So Soft from Avon. I do not apply it directly, to oily! I put it on a towel and rub my dogs down with it. The fleas have to bite them to and then they die! But my poor Zoey can not afford to loose anymore hair. can't wait for the fleas to bite her. And yes they make cap stars for dogs! That is a good product I used it last year. That drives the fleas off of them. So make sure to have some spray on hand to kill the jumping fleas! and On your quest to find the miracle remedy If you find please let me know! Don't forget to treat their bedding!

Oh Yes, I think the fleas are getting worse every year. I gave up on Frontline a few years ago- just didn't work. Now the Advantage is getting iffy. Someone on fb said that Frontline is working for her again, after a few years. Maybe rotating works.
Capstar only works on adult fleas, so you have to retreat often. I do use it on a feral cat, in the yard. I guess it works.
I have all hard floors with just a few rugs. I gone to Raid and Sevin on them, and am still finding fleas. I think I'm going to move out to the garden shed for a day and bomb the house.

yrs ago i used zodiak, i bought spray for dog and they died instantly! i went and bought more that could be used inside and for the yard. That stuff said it worked to also kill the eggs and i used it once a yr for that reason. now with chickens not sure that would be good. couldn't

If you are using a heartworm tablet, get triflexia, I think that's how it is spelled. It kills fleas in 30 minutes of them taking it. Yes it is expensive. I pay 19.50 a pill. But if you are repeatly using stuff that doesn't work, you will spend that much and more for nothing. I have three dogs and have never had a flea problem.

Precore 2000 works great in the house. Buy it on line, not cheap, but has a 7 month growth and hatch inhibator. I just bought a case with 2 of my neighbors. Buying by the case os much cheaper. Each can will cover 2000 sf. They also have topical and yard products. Hope this helps.
