We love this design, but need to do the RUN only (we already have a coop, but our run got destroyed in a recent storm). Do you also have plans and materials list for a run only? Which pieces would I need to remove from the materials list? Thanks in advance!

Moving the Coop (Removing the birds?)

The biggest challenge will be chasing and catching my birds - should be a fun show for the neighbors! ha ha

Moving the Coop (Removing the birds?)

Hello Fellow Chicken Keepers, We need to move our 8'x16' chicken coop/run about 50 feet from where it is now (to make room for an addition on our human house - ha ha). The builders said they'd move it for us, but want us to remove our 12 hens for 2 hours, while they slide the coop across the...

Is "she" a "he"? Barred Rock

From the little bit I've seen and read, that BR looks like a roo, bigger comb and more white barring. So cute though!

Bantam Frizzle Cochin cutie...hen or roo?

Hello, this beautiful bantam cochin is about 10 -11 weeks old and I still can't figure out if it is a pullet or rooster. It runs like a crazy bird when i reach into the brooder box, but then will sit calmly on my lap for a while. So far, no crowing. Any thoughts?

8-9 week old bantams: Roos, hens, or what? Pics included

Is that because their combs are turning pinkish/red? The Frizzle has a tiny red waddle, but the Mille Fleur doesn't, still holding out hope that one might be a girl!

8-9 week old bantams: Roos, hens, or what? Pics included

Hello! I got these 2 bantams at about 4 weeks old and the guy that gave them to me couldn't tell if they were male or female. The black one is a bantam Frizzle and the amber one is a D'Uccle Mille Fleur. Now they are about 8-9 weeks old and I'm hoping you can help me determine if they are Roos...

Help! Somebody is pecking at her comb!!!

Yesterday, we noticed that the comb on our beautiful Barred Rocks Oprah's head was bloody as if one of our other 5 hens has been pecking at it. There's some blood in the roosting area, like they were fighting in there. How can I identify the culprit bully and stop the behavior? What should I do...

    leghorn sized egg?

I've been tracking the weights of the eggs from my various chicken breeds, and the rose-combed brown leghorn's are significantly smaller than the others... like 45-47g while my Araucanas' can be upwards of 59-64g.

Chickens' new owners not taking proper care

Why don't you offer to "babysit" his chickens until he has time to build a proper coop? I would say, "hey, they can live with their sisters in my coop until you have the proper facilities for them, and you can come visit them any time you like."

Dark Brahma not laying yet at 28 weeks

Hello! We have 6 girls of various breeds that are 28 weeks old. Five of them are laying very consistently for a few weeks now, but our Dark Brahma, Dolores, is not laying yet. Her comb and waddle are just starting to develop and turn red, and she is already twice the size of the other hens...

Out in the coop and haven't touched their food!

Hello! We moved the flock of 6 from the brooder box to the coop about a week ago (they are about 9 weeks old now) - I moved their feeder and waterer out there with them so they have food and water. I used to fill the feeder every day, but now the food level is hardly going down at all. Could...

    Favorite treats for your chickens

We cut tomatoes in half and hold them in our hand...the girls go insane competing for the juicy flesh and seeds inside! They also seem to enjoy chickpeas (ironic, I know).

8 week old flock of 6, when do I switch from chick/grower feed?

Hello, hoping some of you experienced chicken parents can tell me when to switch my flock from chick/grower feed to an "adult chicken" food? I just put the 8week olds out into the coop this week, and they are adapting well!

    Orpington question?

My buff orp is the sweetest chick, she's the only one of my 6 that would jump up and down wanting to be picked up! My brown leghorn has earned the name "Schitzoid" because she just squawks and runs frantically from us!

Just put my 7 week old flock out in the coop...babies are growing up!

Hi Everyone - thank you for the support! The girls did just fine in their first 24 hours in the new coop. Of course, now it's covered in poop, wow that was fast! So, the black/white/gray one in the above picture is a Dark Brahma, but our Americana/EE is the real looker of the bunch, she's the...
