    Crowing???

    Our Golden Wyandotte boy started crowing yesterday morning!! Drove the younger dog nuts as he couldn't figure out what that noise was until he went out and found him crowing away!!

    We have a friend who does graphics for a living - she is making us an awesome Biddy Barn sign and one for the door of our run that says - DUCK! with a cute duck with a goose bump on his head ( 2-sided) since you need to remember to duck if you are over 5'6"

    We had a lot of metal siding left over from when they built my horse barn, so we used that to roof over our run. They still get a lot of sun during the day due to placement of the coop, and we can still keep the rain out. It is sloped to where it drains clear of the coop too - which is great!

    Hello all! Have any of you put leaves in your coop as bedding? If so, how deep ? I cleaned the coop today and put a nice thick layer of leaves in there and the girls ran in and back out . Do I have them too thick? Any advice welcomed and thank you!

    We are anxiously waiting our first egg too!! They have been in the nest boxes messing around, but nothing yet. We put a couple of fake eggs in 2 of the boxes to see if they would get the hint, but no takers so far .. They are all around 21 weeks - so it should be soon.......

    Hen died unexpectedly.

    Our little banty cochin died the other day too. One day he was fine, the next morning he was dead. This makes the 3rd chicken since June - and we too have no idea what could have caused it....
