There simply is no need to rush the layer feed. No need whatsoever.
Just keep them on what you have there, they will be just fine. Most don't really start until week 20 and then, they start in spurts and with tiny little pullet eggs. It takes awhile to get everything revved...

Are those soda caps, (beer caps maybe?) with a screw through them holding the wire on???? If so, that's thrifty and cool!
That's awesome!!!!! You could use your farm logo like you said and paint it up as an egg delivery truck. And I definitely agree that the engine compartment is the perfect place for the nesting boxes. It's gonna need lots of ventilation, I know from experience that trucks like that get real hot...
