If only I knew some famous examples of sole survivors to suggest as names. Since she's brave(to return to the yard with the dogs out) and everyone thought she died somewhere unknown, perhaps Amelia(for the famous aviator Amelia Earhart who went missing) would be a good name!
They might try your run/coop for a brief period, but clearly they are looking for a more substantial food source, and will quickly move on from thirst and hunger as long as as the run and coop remain well kept as you're already clearly keeping it. Could be a population of weaker flies from that...
oh, looks like I accidentally posted the jersey giant instead of the second barred rock!
Either way, I'm glad to have some reassurance that some of you think I might have all the pullets I was supposed to! Delighted to hear that's still a possibility.
My chickens have developed at different speeds, however, all of them display roo behavior and all of them are 'sexed pullets' One has clearly revealed himself to be a roo, the others also have suspiciously red combs and wattles.

David is so cute!
Thank you! We are thinking of keeping him now. My daughter loves him.
I say keep him! He looks like a smart, attentive young bird.
Gotta say, right now Speckled Sussex and Buff Orpington are my two most friendly girls. Orpington is as docile as a lapdog as long as one of the other chickens isn't running around with a worm. It let me wipe mud off of its face without ducking or fussing at all!
I've been taking my chicks out for short forays outside now that they have their feathers mostly in, and its already hot out enough for them out there! Through many different noises that I tend to make while going about my business among them, I noticed that one sound caused them all to run for...
See, now that something like this has happened, I would be inclined to name the first roo hatched from one of the independence ladies "Jefferson" or "Hancock"
