Hey Guys! Nice to see everyone is still humming along with their EOs! We are just hatching our 7th generation here this year, though I am not hatching the hundreds that we hatched last year (focusing on school instead). I am glad to see so many new people interested in the breed, as well as MD...
I have had many broodies and a few I let raise babies. They have all been fabulous Moms. We just butchered 26 Euskal Oiloa Roos this weekend and they averaged 4-5 lbs at 20- 25 weeks. I roasted two and the meat was perfect! Tender and full of flavour. Not tough and not.... Squishy like grocery...
Sorry if i'm off topic, i will go back a read the last few pages. Just had to share. On Saturday, we butchered 9 Roos. They varied in age between 20weeks and 1 1/2 years. Not all were Euskal Oiloak. I found this awesome girl to come and do them for $5/ bird. A good deal I think, as she did them...
Love the Godzilla pic too!!
Ok- a little off topic, but have been thinking about this for awhile-MD, you may not be impressed with me, but I am gonna say it anyways lol ( you know me). For anyone in the States who wants to seriously get good Euskal Oiloa type going- bug MD for eggs or birds. I...
I can't promise pics any time soon. I am notoriously bad at getting them up. I almost exclusively post from my iPhone or iPad because I hate sitting at the computer! My HY are still young, only 4-5 months old so it would be best to google the HYs for adult pics. My birds come directly from Roy...
Hey FWDH. I keep my maradunnas separate from my Gorrias. I had a few Zilarra pop up this year too, but don't have enough energy or room for a third colour, so I let them go. Those are the three colours we seem to have to works with- Beltza hasn't shown up and I"m not sorry naked neck hasn't...
Ugh! Not fair. You guys are brooding babies outside and I am getting ready to close everyone in for winter. I have pullets starting to lay as well ( my fourth generation here!) and need to start picking out who I will use for breeding this upcoming year. I start breeding season early - in...
I agree with the above. He is a lovely roo. He may moult out of the fluffiness. I see blue tips golf rom time to time too. On different breeds. I don't worry too much if they are otherwise healthy :)
When I looked at the pic On my IPad,!, I don't see a don't see a side sprig on your grey roo. I often look at the forums on my phone, so no, I don't think he has one. He is lead roo for a reason. Use him.
Very nice birds! You have a good start. If it were me, I'd pair up Marroi, and your Milles pullet (speckled) with your second roo, Eddie. Marroi is a nice Marraduna. Her comb is large and possibly missing one point, there should have between five and seven). It's not horrible though. She is a...
MD, like I said on our forum, I have had 8 go broody this year. A couple have also. Even more than once and have been awesome mom's. It's a trait I am selecting for and hope to secure it in my breeding flock
Ooh... Glen! Territories?? Seriously! Lol. And by the way, don't kid yourself. I would say you are doing great breeding work- not just propagating them. You have some gorgeous birds this year :)
