    Good treats for baby chicks?

Vegans won't like this but my chicks like nothing better for a treat than crumbled up little bits of cooked hamburger. The only down side is that they act disappointed now if I give them anything else and squabbles usually break out over the last piece.

Introducing This Years Chicks To Last Years Hens?

Thanks for the quick response. The grown birds have a yard that is about 40x65 ft and fenced but not covered were they are during the daytime. Attached is a covered pen area that contains their coup and roost. It is gated and I close it at night after the birds roost to make for a highly...

    Too Many Eggs?

We check the coop several times a day, mostly just to visit the birds, and I am positive all 5 were laid in one day. For the past several days they are back to one each.

My wife just had her first plate of home raised, free range scrambled eggs. One was a double yolk. The expression on her face when she tasted them said it all.

Can You Tell From You Eggs Which Chicken Laid Them?

Ok, I'm obviously a chicken raising newbe, but I was wondering if any of you can tell from the egg laid which of your chickens did the deed. We have three Rhode Island Reds (delightful birds) and one seems to lay med sized eggs and another larger ones. They seem to be shaped differently too. Is...

    Trouble Passing Eggs?

Thank You for the welcome and reply. That was my hunch and we have been trying to entice her with a little bird seed (their favorite treat) into moving around a bit. After helping deliver 3 of our kids my impression of her behavior was that it seems similar to labor. The poor bird looks pretty...
