Update -
Our 5 babies arrived this afternoon safe and sound - they were packed with extra padding and a heat pack. They were a bit quiet when I picked them up so made hubby open the box first.... everyone alive and well. They were VERY thirsty and began drinking/eating right away. By this...
Our new babies shipped from Meyer today too!!!! one black copper maran, one speckled sussex, one silver spangled hamburg, one welsummer and one blue andalusion. This will round out our flock of 13 - and I said I would never have chickens........ Have never done such a small order so hoping all...
Get some Poly Vi Sol Vitamin drops from your local pharmacy - they are made by Enfamil. Make sure they are WITHOUT IRON. Give a couple of drops straight to the beak each day and mix in water also. We always mix vitamins/electrolytes in our new arrivals water for the first few days and this...

So sorry for you loss. We lost our dear Poachie on Sunday - she was a special needs baby from day 3 and made it to almost 12 weeks. Amazing how much they become a part of our family so quickly. Take solace in the fact that you did everything you could to give her the best life possible.
I was kinda suspicious of the cuckoo being a boy but I was thinking maybe the other one was a hen but not a maran.... can you shed some light on what clued you in?
Got some new additions to our flock a few weeks ago. Was told these two were hens - one cuckoo maran one black copper maran - but beginning to wonder..... Can anyone help??? Black one has green sheen to feathers and white tips on wings. Legs are black and clean. Black/white has pale legs...
