Hi Fellow Idahoans. I'm in Mountain Home. I'm retired from the Air Force (hubby is still active). I'm trying to get my Turkey breeding going. Have lots of poults. I also have chickens, guineas, ducks, geese, horses, donkey (1) and lots of Long Haired Dachshunds. Always willing to chat.
I haven't had much luck with the 16 days. I waited until day 18 to make sure - crack one it was a yolk -- cracked another and it had a live baby -- it was sucking the sac in -- I wish I knew -- people say these are easy to hatch but I'm not having any luck.
Well I talked to my neighbor (he been dealing with turkeys a lot longer than me; he stated that they can tell when an egg goes bad and will eat it so it doesn't contaminate the rest of the nest or worse yet rot and explode (yuck)!!! What does everyone think?
I retired from the AF 4 years ago and started getting into birds: we have turkeys, chickens, ducks, geese, guineas, button quail. Love them all. Need people to chat with as my husband thinks I've gone batty:)
