    Soft egg??

This morning I found a regularly sized egg in the middle of the duck pool. After picking it up I realized that it has no shell! It was all squishy and leathery! She is in her third year of lay and this has never happened before! Or it could be possible that my 6 mo buff drake is really a duck...

2 new Aylesbury girls, how do i introduce them to existing flock?

Sorry those aren't ayles buries. They don't have a keel. Those are definitely Pekins or jumbo Pekins. Here look at this link, it's from the uk as well, http://www.aylesburyducks.co.uk/

2 new Aylesbury girls, how do i introduce them to existing flock?

Aww good! It looks more like a pekin then aylesbury though. Aylesburies have pink bills. If u could post a picture of the body we could see for sure. HollyDuckFarmer: the coloration of the ducks is not why they are in that order. It's the size, disposition, temperament, etc. Pekins tend to be...

2 new Aylesbury girls, how do i introduce them to existing flock?

I have a whole technique worked out cuz occasionally I'll have to babysit my teachers ducks in my coop. I've found that the group you introduce has to be a smaller group than the existing flock by at least 1. Then just throw them together. When they settle down add the rest one by one. So in...

    cats and ducks

My ducks attack and beat up the dogs and have killed mice and songbirds and one time a chipmunk. They can be vicious and I would worry about a kitten. Maybe an older cat with plenty of hiding spots.

You people are brave! I don't have any pics right now but my run is 12x12 hardware cloth and 2x4s with a wire and paver skirt around it, combination locks and love video cameras! I'm soo paranoid though. They NEVER free range unless I'm literally staring at them full time. I'm a bit safety...

    What if?

I raised one duckling successfully. He came everywhere with me and was imprinted to me. Sometimes the dog would sleep in with him and keep him company. I gave him toys and he did just perfect. He had a friend for the first few day but we had to give her away. After that he was fine alone. At...
