Thanks for the advice. I think I will try a visual introduction first, like you suggest, separating them but allowing them to see each other. Putting the new one in the coop at night makes sense, but I would be nervous about the morning! I would have to wake up at dawn to monitor them I guess!
I am interested in buying a silkie pullet to add to my flock of 4 pullets.
I currently have 3 standard pullets (australorp, wyandotte, and gold sex-link) that are 2.5 months old and 1 porcelain silkie pullet (I think!) that is 3.5-4 months old.
I had 3 silkie chicks and two started crowing so...
I bought 5 nipples and the requisite tools for making my own waterer. The only thing I need is the container. If you have any suggestions for container/set-up I would greatly appreciate it!
I have 4 pullets.
(Don't want to do anything too fancy with pipes, etc-- just finished building the coop...
Thanks for the input! I will keep my hopes up for her then. I have to get rid of the other two, which is sad b/c they are so handsome and sweet! Here are pics of them. The blue one showed signs of being a boy early on with long streamers and slicked-back hairstyle, but the silver one I wasn't...
I bought 3 silkie chicks when they were *about* 1mo old (think they may've been older). Two months later 2 are definately boys. This is my last hope for a girl (can't keep roos) but I'm afraid it's a boy too.
Any silkie experts want to weigh in?
Thanks!
