Gold Laced Orpington- For Learning and Sharing

Also, the middle picture shows all three, and the the bird in the middle of the three GL orps is the one I think is a cockerel, as his comb is bigger but I also think his legs are bigger. Although you can't see this in the picture.

I am from the UK. They're apparently show quality. The parents looked good. Is that what you when you ask what line? They are very pretty, I am pleased with them.

    help winter !!!!!!!

Oh sorry, just read your post properly. .. They're under heat. That's good. Chickens like somewhere cosy to roost, so some type of chicken house with perches will be perfect. With nest boxes to encourage somewhere safe to lay their eggs. In very cold weather I bank the edges up with extra...

Welcome to the addictive world of chickens, youll love it.It would depending how old the chicks are? Is the 1 year old hen the broody hen? Are the chicks under her? If they are under her she shoulder ivied enough heat for them. You can just make sure she has a nice plump nest to sit on and no...

**HELP** Turkey chicks just hatched...problem with CATS!!

Is she difficult to catch? Can you get near the chicks? If so pop them the cage, she's bound to follow? Or if she goes in the cage alone I expect the chicks will follow her. My bantams are extremely tame so I have an easier time when moving new families about. Or another idea, wait until she is...

**HELP** Turkey chicks just hatched...problem with CATS!!

The idea of the dog cage is great. This will allow the other hens to get used to the chicks, making it easier to introduce them when they're bigger. as they can't squeeze through the gaps. The older hens wont think twice about pecking through a chick head that happens to pop through a gap...

**HELP** Turkey chicks just hatched...problem with CATS!!

She won't mind being moved at all now... As long as she has her babies that's all that will matter to her. Now they're dry and fluffy and Mobil they're stronger, so will be fine, just scoop her up, place her on a nice clean nest, with chicks crumbs and shallow water near by in a nice safe place...

    Is she eggbound? :(

Maybe if you'd like some more. But I find all my breeds mix together, large and small. She's has the company still of the cockerel and the other pullets? She won't worry about breed... My chicken hatched out ducks this year and still try's to mother them... They don't seem to notice the...

**HELP** Turkey chicks just hatched...problem with CATS!!

I'd move her to a brooder or somewhere quiet. I'm sure she's coping, if she's managed to hatch them all they must all fit under her, so at least they'll be warm. We're they a surprise hatch? Exciting! :P

new to chickens; Lynnwood, WA - advice?

Go for it! You'll never look back. Most Chicken breeds are very hardy in the winter, look on the other threads that are all about winter care. The only thing is I wouldn't get chicks in the cold, they'd have to stay n the warm for several weeks. Look for some at POL (point of lay). There are...

Cockerels LOST BY USPS - How Long Can They Live?

How awful, I'd be so worried. How can they be so rubbish! I tried posting hatching eggs, well wrapped, well labeled, and they were all damaged.... I'd now never trust posting a live animals. Unfortunately some people don't treat animals as we would, someone is to blame for this at USPS. Grrrr...
