I hatched a Lemon Cuckoo Orpington chick & she is huge! She is super nice and calm too. So far she is the only 1 of the week-old chicks that is growing a tail; hope that doesn't mean she is the only pullet!
We have been battling mites as well, what a nightmare! I feel your pain. Now that the chicks have hatched, we moved the hens out of the broody coop which had the worst mite problem. I know there are still a few of them on the hens in the other coop though.
I haven't seen any on the chicks...
Beautiful! I have 2 lavender orp chicks but one looks much yellower than yours. Maybe it is a splash & I got my eggs mixed up? Oh well, I'll find out eventually!
I am selling the cockerels on Craigslist. I have 2 friends who want pullets so the pullets will be going to them. If there are a lot of pullets we might keep one. My kids really want to keep the yellow one that was rejected by the hen.

I know it's hard to stay healthy & take care of yourself when you have all these stressful things going on, but do your...

I got impatient so I grabbed the 3 chicks out of the incubator & gave them straight to the broody hens. They accepted them right away, no problem! The bator chicks were a little confused & didn't know to snuggle under the hen, but the littlest one figured it out pretty quickly.
The mamas...
I have 3 chicks in the incubator now & 3 unhatched eggs. 1 of the eggs looked like it had died the last time I candled, so I don't expect that one to hatch.
So the first chick that hatched seems really aggressive. It keeps pecking the other two! I want to take it out of the bator and give...
So my broodies hatched out 2 new Orpington chicks last night! One lavender & a small one that looks blue. The one that hatched Wednesday night is chocolate.
So my question is, when will they bring the chicks to eat & drink? I am a little worried about the chocolate one, since it's older...
