Postings on Craigslist indicate that there will be a swap in Falmouth this Saturday. Then on the 10th there will be one in Ewing, Paris (stockyards), and Berea.
I have not posted in so long, I hope I am doing this correctly. It is time for me to add new blood to my Silkie flock so I am looking for two good quality roosters that are not related to my hens. If you have some Silkie roosters and have not received birds or eggs from me in the past I would...
It has been a long time since I posted anything. I have had so many changes in my life for the past year. I took some young Silkies to the Paris swap meet today,my first chicken outing in a long time. I had a great time, sold all my birds (really cheap but I had to let some go), and saw some...
Hi all, it has been a while since I have posted here. I am laid up recovering from knee surgery so I have some free time on my hands. I have many Silkie roosters hatched this year ( about 3-4 months old) to give away. Most are non-standard colors, but true to type. If you have need of any...
I have the following birds free to anyone who wants them. They are the feathered necked chicks from my last hatch from my Showgirl project. I have no idea what sex they are. They are 6 or 7 weeks old.
Hi all and welcome to the newbies. I have been on a work trip to Salt Lake City, just got home about an hour ago. While I was gone a friend who does not use computers asked if I could post to see if anyone would be interested in buying some Black Star Pullets. They are 17 weeks old and he...
Hey Yolonda,
The doc. says I will never run or do any high impact sports again even if I opt for cartilage replacement.
It looks like I have to accept that I am a worn out old man.
At least I can still garden. I am thankful for that.
Hey Yolonda, I am adjusting to not being able to run any more. I have a huge garden planted at my nephew's place. It is really keeping me busy. My Silkie flock is just now becoming content with their new home and are beginning to produce eggs at an acceptable rate.
I got three layers from my...
I just read the article. I have been in Berea most of the day.
I am very happy that it was printed. I am still bitter about having to move my Silkie flock to Paris after a neighbor complained about my rooster crowing, but at least I can still keep laying hens for eggs.
I hope that it is an...
The surgery was not as simple as the doctor thought it was going to be. I have damaged cartilage in the knee. The surgeon collected some healthy cartilage and sent it to a lab in Texas to grow more cells from it for a transplant. Even if I go along with the transplant I will probably never be...
You should never apologize for being a ray of sunshine Yolonda. You are exactly right; this has motivated me to look for a new place to live. I should be fine after the surgery; I am scheduled for physical therapy the next day. The surgery will be on the 28th.
With all the dogs, kids and...
Everyone has been relocated except the hens that are setting and my two layers. As soon as the other Silkie hens hatch they will be joining the flock in Paris. I have had the chickens here for 7 years and never a complaint. It seems if there had been a problem it would not have taken so long...
Hey all, thought I would share my woes. One of my neighbors complained about my roosters crowing so I had to move my Silkie flock to my nephew's place outside Paris.
I have one EE hen and one Black Australorpe pullet that I am keeping for eggs. I plan to buy three more large young hens just...
Dark egg breeds and Brahmas
I have Maran eggs set under two of my Silkies now and will be looking for Brahma eggs soon. Hopefully I will be getting some Penedesca eggs soon as well. We are also going to set up a pen for large mutts.
Hey Milk Dud, I am in Lexington. My nephew bought a place near Paris. I will be out there a lot this year teaching him and his wife how to raise a garden. Of course I am setting up chicken pens on his place so I can have some more breeds out there. I can only keep the Silkies here in the city.
The farthest trip I will be making today is to the chicken coop to feed the babies. I am terrified of bad roads. I am a bad enough driver on good roads, so you will not catch e out driving in any adverse weather unless I absolutely have to.
You have not seen me lately Casey; hair to the shoulders, multiple piercings to the ears, one in the nose, one on the brow, and one in the chin (lower lip area) and a dragon tattooed on the neck.
Just kidding, I am as plain as dirt.
Yolonda, that sounds like a blast. With fear that Casey will scold me, I have to ask when is the Kentuckianna show? I did go look at the postings for the shows, but could not find it. It is being held in Shelbyville isn't it?
Chick-N-Law and Badhbh, it is nice to meet you.
I am very happy for you Casey. I hope it stays that way for you as well.
Hey Yolonda, if you get these little SF guys that I have fertility should no longer be a issue for you. They are doing their best to crow. They sound so funny! I had them in the garden with the adult Silkies and they...
Hey Yolonda, sorry for not responding sooner. My trip was extended due to the bad weather on Thursday, and not in a good way. I was stuck in the Atlanta airport for the night.
Today or tomorrow is great for me. I plan on doing nothing this weekend, but rest. I will priveate message my...
