I also called Hardin County this morning and they have smaller minimum (15) but you can't pick them up, they have to ship them again. Sounds like a really good way to stress the birds out! How is this place still in business?

I am putting together an order for this spring and could order a few extra. I'm sure there are more people on here doing the same. I am just south of Bardstown. I found a number for the Hardin Co hatchery in Glendale and will give them a call to see what all they have. They don't seem to have a...

Quote: I have been there a couple of times and that was enough for me. It's definitely a buyers market..not a sellers market. I had pullets there once and they didn't even want to give $5 for them. Even baby chicks seem to be overpriced there at $2 each..they want everything for free it seems...

Has anyone ever tried doing a frapper map on this forum? If you aren't familiar with it, it's basically a map like google maps where everybody puts a pin where they live and can add info that shows up when someone clicks on the pin. I did one for a sailboat forum that I belonged to awhile back...

I know mypetchicken will ship smaller orders but it will cost you a bunch extra. If you can pick them up in person, mt healthy in Cincinnati OH will sell a few (3 or...

Quote: Yeah I sent them a email. Not sure what they have. I'm looking for a good larger breed for meat a( not the Cornish x) and maybe some more layers. I had a silkie rir cross but it had something wrong with it and died young. I know a guy with some rir/silkie crosses I'm trying to convince...

Quote: Not sure about Tewes but I just had 24 cornish X processed at Central Kentucky Custom Meats near Liberty KY and am very happy. They process USDA so you can actually sell your extra birds at a farmers market if you want. Price seemed good $3 to do a whole chicken, air chilled and vacuum...

Quote: I get my organic layer from Fresh Start Growers in Louisvlle, it runs $30 for a 50 lb bag. I called the place in Sonora and Pennyrile just to compare. Sonora was $32 per bag (comes from VA not local) for layer and Pennyrile was 18-20 per bag depending on what protein percent you...
