Kentucky people

I used to ship birds on a regula basis, but havent had birds for a few years and havent attempted to and last time I checked witht he PO here is Russell Springs they said it was a no go for shipping lives. Thing is, I dont have a problem getting birds shipped to me. Liberty is only 20 mins from me, so if need be I can drive there and ship them.

I ship through Columbia all the time, though nothing ever gets to its destination sooner than 2nd-day. One thing you might want to consider is destination. Columbia mail goes through Louisville, Liberty goes through Lexington. So if your boxes are going east, it might be better for you to use Liberty's P.O., maybe they'd get there faster. I sent some Serama females to a friend in IN, maybe 4 hour drive tops. It still took them 36 hours to get there.

I have never had a bird arrive any earlier the the morning of the second day. The PO here is Russell Springs comes through Lex as well. I may need to call the PO and see if they have changed anything on the matter. Thanks for the info guys!

I ship all the time. When I can, I go to Dunnville right by Dogwalk Market and Tarter. It doesn't matter if it is Dunnville or Liberty. They have been heading to Lexington then Louisville and then go to their destination. Even to WV or parts to the east and even south. It has always taken 2 days except to AL.
When receiving birds I can call Liberty and talk with Lisa the post master and if they log in the tracking like they are supposed to I can arrange to meet them in Danville the next day or pickup in Lexington if they are really expensive.
But Dunnville is close depending on where you live in Russell Springs.
It's weird Russell said no on lives.

I have been there a couple of times and that was enough for me. It's definitely a buyers market..not a sellers market. I had pullets there once and they didn't even want to give $5 for them. Even baby chicks seem to be overpriced there at $2 each..they want everything for free it seems.
On the other hand...be extremely careful what you buy there. Lots of sick birds go through there. I have had many of my customers tell me that they have bought hens there and they were all dead within a week. I would never recommend them.

I don't know that I would be buying much there? Just wanted to check it out myself from the stories I heard! Thanks

I live about 5 miles from the Russell/Casey line. Dunville is about 10 mins from me. I have no problems getting birds shipped in, had some shipped from NY just fine earlier in Feb. I havent tryed to ship in over 5 years so im not sure if it is still a no go. I need to call and ask, see maybe if things had changed.

Mr. Ree :

There is only one PO in Columbia right? Down from the square, across from Phil Aarons office?

Technically 2, on going towards Wal-mart (I believe it is 61?--probably the one you're thinking of) and one on north 55 towards C-ville in Cane Valley. I've never used that one.
