It’s an Easter Egg hunt every day in my barn. I have found eggs in the horses’ hay nets, empty water buckets, open shavings bags, randomly in the middle of the floor, hidden behind boards, in the recycling bin….. and of course the nest boxes. Seems anything goes!
9 regular sized eggs, and 1 from Mrs Little Chicken. My gang is slowing up, i
have a
Mix of moulting and broody old bats. But that’s fine, they need a break.
The mare, Reenie, is a thoroughbred and is 24 yrs old.
The hen is Eli-too, she has wee wattles and a cushion comb or sorts. She is one of my escape artists, I have about 6 or 7 that fly really well and can go over a 6’ fence no problem - brats! That’s what they are brats!

17, I am surprised they are still laying, but I have been keeping the barn as cool as I can, fans are going all the time. Temp has dropped this evening we are heading for a cool down.
Good morning all! It’s back to hot and steamy here after a few days of cooler temps.
A few of my ladies are moulting and a couple are broody (brats!) so egg production is down. Yesterday I received 16 eggs two were from my bantams - the keep those for myself, I don’t sell them.

My gang is just hanging out in the barn, fans going for them and the horses. It’s not too bad in there.
Today I have 18 eggs. My young silkie pullet has finally decided to take the plunge and go broody. Silly girl, in this heat humidity and smoky air (wildfires).
