How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I have two older hens 3yrs old and two young ones just started laying two week ago. Everyone is still laying, even thou lack of sunlight. Well a few days ago, I cleaned the coop out and added new bedding preparing for winter. The next day I went out zero eggs. The next day I went out zero again. I thought this was weird. So started started searching. Found they went over to the Duck coop which is sheltered except one open facing out. Have a dog house in there and they decided to start laying there. Found lots of eggs. I think the young ones got scared when I spent so much time cleaning the coop and went to the other coop. So my stupid older chickens started laying there as well. I shut the gate accessing the second coop to stop them doing this bad habit. Hopefully it works. I will know today.

It’s an Easter Egg hunt every day in my barn. I have found eggs in the horses’ hay nets, empty water buckets, open shavings bags, randomly in the middle of the floor, hidden behind boards, in the recycling bin….. and of course the nest boxes. Seems anything goes!

21 today and 5 I cannot match to the layer yet. The browns are throwing my off something terrible. One of these has to be a golden cuckoo maran, another I’m guessing is from a barnevelder. As for the rest, probably from my mutt pullets fathered by a blue copper maran. Debating on starting a collection of blown out eggs with the one wavy brown egg.

Yes! DO IT!!!
You are sure to get more oddball eggs to build your collection down the road!

2 eggs.
1 from Red
1 from Dove
I decided to candle The Nuzzler's egg from yesterday and it might not be possible with the phone light. Red's and Dove's glow but Nuzzer's has a more dense shell. Razor beak and shell of steel, that one.
I also deduced that it wasn't Nuzzer's first as the different green one from Tuesday had quite the thick shell and similar shape. The color was just close enough to fool me into thinking it could possibly be Dove's. Dove laying soft shells for her first week then that double yolker had me thinking she could lay anything at that point. LOL
