There are some very knowledgeable folks here on BYC that are more than willing to help with any questions or issues you may have or encounter. Glad to hear you and your husband have gotten into poultry. How long have you had your flock and hope you are enjoying your new adventure in poultry.
Non that I have seen from my use it's been 2 or 3 years since I have needed and used it for 3 seasons in a row. My pond is fully stocked with fish plenty of bull frogs and just removed 2 huge snapping turtles last week neither had 2 heads :D and plenty of waterfowl. No ill effects that I have...
That was easy enough, found a jug in shed its called (Shore-Klear) aquatic herbicide. For use on emerged aquatic weeds and brush. I was told by person who turned me on to it to mix 2oz per gal on or very near Labor Day and that worked for me. Just sprayed it on upper green area of cattails...
Both, pulling if only a few in an area and you can get them when they are small/young. And a chemical used to mix and spray on green exposed area like you would use roundup on weeds. But it's made for ponds I believe it was called shore clear, Sprayed in fall around Labor Day. I'll see if I can...
Ya the cattails can overtake your pond in no time. I tried to have a small patch off one end of pond at one time but got tired of trying to contain them to that smaller area that was impossible. So, I have eradicated them altogether now no cattails allowed.
Update on all the duckling hatches, a few pics. First pic is 👆 others are hatches since. Mommas hatched out 43 ducklings this spring, one big beach party. :lau
Easiest way to tell the difference between the 2 ducklings. If you look at their head/eye stripe, a Mallard will have one stripe and a Rouen will have two.
Speaking of little ducklings here is the first hen to hatch this spring, 4 others still sitting. She hatched 7 out of the 9 eggs I let her sit, they hatched 2 days ago making them 3 days old today.
Hello sorry to hear about your loss of Deliah I am up in northwest corner on Mich border. I do have some year-old mix hens, Khaki drake over a Rouen hen. I'm sure I could part with one or so for a companion if you're interested.
